By global communication the main emphasis
is stressed on the global aspects which
facilitate exchange of cultural norms, ideas
and traditions from one society to another.
In the first place, we shall discuss the
influence of global communication towards
culture.
 Secondly, how the culture influences the
global communication.
The Influence of Global Communication towards Culture
 Global communication through internet services, and social media such as whatsapp,
facebook, Imo, Instangram and Twitter etc., have both positively and negatively
influenced today’s understanding of culture.
 Starting with positive side through internet services and social media now the diversified
world has become a global village. Therefore, there is interconnection between people
of different cultures.
 For instance, being in Tanzania you can follow what is happening in USA or Britain. This
shows the greatness of global communication.
 More over, through global communication there is inter-exchange of cultural norms and
traditions among people. For example, film industry and entertainment industry via
movies and music have enabled us to learn from other cultures.
 Also, global communication has led to negative impact towards culture. For instance,
some weak cultures have lost their greatness and identity due to the emergence of
strong cultures.
 Taking an example of human trafficking, as per report of the United Nations in the year
1999 stated that “between 700,000 and 2 million women and children worldwide are
trafficked every year.
The influence of Culture on Global Communication
 Primarily, culture is aspect of life. Thus culture constitutes all domains
of life. That is to say culture influences global communication.
 Firstly, culture enables people to have social interaction in the
society. Today, tools of global communication like social media, mass
media and internet have given a room for enhancing these social
relations as embedded in culture.
 For example, whatsapp communication and facebook are clear
indicators of social interaction as an essential element of culture.
 Secondly, culture influences global communication in terms of
human creativity. Since, any culture involves people. These people
are creative. Thus, through their creativity they innovate and invent
new gadgets.
 Conclusively, we cannot talk of global communication without
referring to the culture which grooms creativity among people in the
society.
