End user Empowerment & Self-Services
Personal and Team business content with Enterprise Workspaces

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 14

Creating content for your own benefit
Create a personal workspace
n Each user having the necessary permissions can create a personal workspace
n The workspace can only be accessed by the user itself
n The user can create several pages – represented as tabs – in the workspace and populate content on them

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 15

How to add content?
Add content from the module gallery
n To populate content on the personal workspace users can open the module gallery
n The module gallery shows all available „modules“ the user can add to the page
n Owner of a personal workspace or managers of a shared workspaces see the pages always in design time
n They can add modules using drag&drop or by clicking on „add“ on the module representation in the gallery
n Content can be re-arranged in the page layout by using drag&drop

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 16

Adapt the layout based on your needs
Change the page layout
n Initially a T-layout is assigned to a newly created page
n Users can change the layout before or after having populated content on it
n The users can choose between different standard layouts

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 17

Organize workspaces
Launch a shared workspace
n To see the list of available workspaces the user launches the workspace directory
n The workspace directory shows beside this list all workspaces the user is either member or manager of
n Also it shows the workspaces the user has added to the favorits and a list of pending requests for membership in restricted
workspaces

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 18

Share live data with others
Create a shared workspace
n Users having the necessary permissions are allowed to
create new shared workspaces
n Beside a name and description of the new shared
workspaces the user has to decide about the permission
policy:
n Public – every user allowed to work with shared
workspaces can launch the workspace
n Restricted – only users accepted by the workspace
manager can access the workspace. User not being
member yet can apply for membership
n Private – users can only be added to the member list of
the workspace by the workspace manager. These
workspaces don‘t show up in the workspace directory
list
n Initially the workspaces are in „unpublished“ state. Once
the intital content population is done the manager can
publish the workspace.

Where do the modules come from?
Maintain modules using the module library
n All content visualized in the module gallery is managed
using the module library
n In the module library the properties of the modules are
maintained as well as the permissions who is allowed to
see them
n Module can be added to the module library either by
n Selecting an existing iview from a role in the PCD
(preferred option)
n Selecting an existing iview from the PCD
n Adding a module based on a web URL
n Adding a module based on a custom-specific
implementation

© SAP AG 2010. All rights reserved. / Page 20

Use advanced capabilties
Implement your own modules
n Modules deriving from a PCD iview are not aware of running in a workspace
n With Enterprise Workspaces SAP provides an enhanced component model that is „workspace aware“
n It allows to trigger several operations from the module itself like
n Get the member list of the workspace the module is running in
n React on life cycle operations, e.g. creation or deletion of the module in the workspace
n

How to adapt the colors to the corporate design
Change the look and feel
n The UI‘s in Enterprise Workspaces are based on Flex
n The look and feel can be changed by downloading the standard
CSS file, adapt it (in a 3rd party tool), compile it as SWF file and
upload it to the portal
n For each portal theme a separate flex theme can be assigned

What about governance?
Administrate your workspaces
n The following operations can be done
on (shared) workspaces:
n Close
n Re-activate
UI M
n Delete
OCK
n Reassign ownership UP!
n Shared workspaces can be transported
through the system landscape either
with or without including the module
templates
