Cultural aspects of communication
CULTURE VERSUS GLOBAL
COMMUNICATION
By global communication the main emphasis is
stressed on the global aspects which facilitate
exchange of cultural norms, ideas and traditions
from one society to another.
In the first place, we shall discuss the influence
of global communication towards culture.
Secondly, how the culture influences the global
communication.
The Influence of Global Communication towards
Culture
Global communication through internet services, and social media such as whatsapp,
facebook, Imo, Instangram and Twitter etc., have both positively and negatively
influenced today’s understanding of culture.
Starting with positive side through internet services and social media now the
diversified world has become a global village. Therefore, there is interconnection
between people of different cultures.
For instance, being in Tanzania you can follow what is happening in USA or Britain.
This shows the greatness of global communication.
More over, through global communication there is inter-exchange of cultural norms
and traditions among people. For example, film industry and entertainment industry
via movies and music have enabled us to learn from other cultures.
Also, global communication has led to negative impact towards culture. For instance,
some weak cultures have lost their greatness and identity due to the emergence of
strong cultures.
Taking an example of human trafficking, as per report of the United Nations in the
year 1999 stated that “between 700,000 and 2 million women and children worldwide
are trafficked every year.
The influence of Culture on Global Communication
Primarily, culture is aspect of life. Thus culture constitutes all domains
of life. That is to say culture influences global communication.
Firstly, culture enables people to have social interaction in the society.
Today, tools of global communication like social media, mass media
and internet have given a room for enhancing these social relations as
embedded in culture.
For example, whatsapp communication and facebook are clear
indicators of social interaction as an essential element of culture.
Secondly, culture influences global communication in terms of human
creativity. Since, any culture involves people. These people are
creative. Thus, through their creativity they innovate and invent new
gadgets.
Conclusively, we cannot talk of global communication without referring
to the culture which grooms creativity among people in the society.
