Step 1: Turn the Anritsu on using the on/off button in the bottom right hand corner of the Site Master.
Step 2: Ensure that the Site Master has the correct feeder type set, (see page 7).
Step 3: Set the frequencies, f1 810MHz and f2 880MHz for a Transmit antenna and f1 815MHz and
f2 830MHz, (see page 8)
Step 4: To begin the calibration press the START CAL button.
Step 5: Select CAL A using the up and down arrows and then press enter.
Step 6: Connect the open/short load to the test port with the open end towards the equipment.
Step 7: Connect the open/short load to the test port with the short end towards the equipment.
Step 8: Connect the precision load to the test port.
Note: A calibration should be done every time the Site Master is turned on
With the Site Master turned on, fully calibrated and with the display in Main Menu we are ready to do a
sweep.
Step 1: Using the soft keys that run along the bottom of the site master select the one under OPT.
This changes the soft keys functions.
Step 2: In the message area directly above the soft keys there is a list of what the new functions are
Select the one for B1:MODE.
Step 3: Using the UP AND DOWN arrows to select RETURN LOSS then press ENTER.
Step 4: Press ESCAPE to return to the main menu.
Step 5: Press the soft key labelled FREQ.
Note: Pressing AUTO SCALE ( keypad 2 ) allows the site master to automatically scale the display for
optimum resolution.
Putting a marker on a frequency will tell you what return loss an antenna is preforming at, at a certain
frequency i.e. the dB value for that frequency.
With the Site Master in either the Main menu or the Frequency Menu.
Step 1: Select MARKER on the right hand side of the Anritsu ( keypad 8 ) or use the soft key labelled
MKRS if in the Frequency menu.
Step 2: Select the soft key for the marker you wish to use i.e. M1 – M4.
Step 3: Turn the marker on by using the ON/OFF soft key.
Step 4: Press the soft key labelled EDIT.
Step 5: Type in, using the number pad, the frequency you are interested in i.e. 865.5MHz and press
the ENTER button.
With the Site Master turned on, fully calibrated and with the display in Main Menu we are ready to do a

Putting a marker on a peak will tell you what the VSWR of an antenna is.
With the Site Master in either the Main menu or the Distance Menu.
Step 1: Select MARKER on the right hand side of the Anritsu ( keypad 8 ) or use the soft key labelled
MKRS if in the Distance menu.
Step 2: Select the soft key for the marker you wish to use i.e. M1 – M4.
Step 3: Turn the marker on by using the ON/OFF soft key.
Step 4: Press the soft key labelled MORE.
Step 5: Press the soft key labelled PEAK.
Note: If you wish to see what a smaller peak is reading along the feeder run then in step 4 press the EDIT
soft key and use the UP AND DOWN arrows to adjust the marker to anywhere on the display, once
the marker is in position press enter.
Different feeders have different characteristics and therefore effect how the site master takes its readings.
Note: The site master will need to be re-calibrated after changing the feeder type.
Save Display
Note: when multiple displays are needed to be saved it may be necessary to note what sweeps are save
under what number for future reference.
Recall Display
Step 1: Connect the supplied cable between the Anritsu and the PC.
Step 2: Turn on the Anritsu .
Step 3: Double click on the Site Master Software Tools icon to open the program.
Step 4: Click on CAPTURE in the top menu bar, select CAPTURE PLOTS TO SCREEN.
Step 5: Enter the number or numbers of the plots you wish to capture ( 1,4,6-12 ).
Step 6: Select OK.
