COMMUNICATION

•Communication is the transfer of information,


ideas and emotions between individuals and groups
of people.

•Communication includes writing and talking, as


well as nonverbal, visual and electronic
communication.

BIOLOGICAL COMMUNICATION

•All forms of communication


that use natural body parts
such as the brain, voice box,
ears arms and hands to
transmit and receive
messages.
TELECOMMUNICATION

•Methods of communication
over long distances; including

WRITTEN COMMUNICATION

•In an organization a large percentage of information


is communicated via the written medium either by
sending letters or memos, or more frequently via
email.
Written methods of workplace
communication include:

•Reports
•Manuals
•E-mails
•Memoranda
•Circulars
Letters and Reports
•Letters may be used to confirm internal
candidate interview times, appraisal times,
promotions and pay-rises.

•Reports are a very frequent form of workplace


written communication and are used to convey
key facts, figures, technical, financial and
statistical data.
Manuals and Minutes
•Manuals are used by an organisation as a means of
having written records of established practices such
as instructions on how to undertake specific tasks and
work policies.

•A manual will help new employees to understand


key procedures and approaches and then put these
into practice in their daily work.
Emails, Memoranda and
Circulars
•Circulars are usually the least formal method of
written communication within the workplace and
will usually include various notices or information
relating to welfare and safety issues.

•This approach may also be utilised to inform


employees of forthcoming events.
ORAL/AUDIBLE
COMMUNICATION
•Oral communication or speech is often the
preferred medium of communication in informal
situation since it provides a number of immediate
benefits when attempting to communicate
proposals and ideas.
TELECOMMUNICATION
•Telecommunications, devices and systems
that transmit electronic or optical signals
across long distances.

•Usually involves a sender of information


and one or more recipients linked by a
technology, such as a telephone system, that
transmits information from one place to
another.

often used to assist in meaning and deliver a
