BATANES

• Composed of three inhabited Island, namely:

BATAN, SABTANG, ITBAYAT.
• BATANES(Batan-es) means Island around
Batan.
• IVATAN is the name of their local language
and the name of their indigenous people,
which came from the word I-BATAN- meaning
from BATAN.
• LOCATION
The Island group is located about 162 km
north of luzon and about 190 km south of
taiwan, seperated from the Babuyan Island of
Cagayan Province, Luzon, by the Balintang
Channel and from Taiwan by the Bashi
channel.
