Case 1: If there is only simple undercut as shown in the figure then give the
sufficient draft in molding direction.

If the component has the dog house type technical feature which you can not avoid. Then in
such a case there are following solutions depending upon the functionality and cost.

Case 2: If the component is invisible then you can remove the undercut by giving cutout . As
shown in the following figure. Here it is necessary to do 7° tool matching on the sides where there
is no surface,

Case 3: If the component is visible then you have to give movement to avoid the undercut . But
the surface of the component should clear in slider direction with minimum 0.5°.

Case 4: If the component is visible and there is undercut on the base face in the movement
direction. If there is big undercut with the base face then there are two solutions
a) Try to rotate the feature so that there will be no undercut but this solution highly depends on
the functionality of the feature.
b) Try to change the position of the technical feature at such location where there is no undercut
with the base face But this solution is highly customer dependable. You have to ask to the
customer for doing this solution.

Case 5: If the component is visible and there is undercut on the base face in the movement
direction. If there is small undercut with the base face then there are two solutions
a) If the undercut is too small then try to reduce or add the thickness locally so that there will not
be undercut on the base face. Here important things to remember are sink mark and stiffness
of the component.
b) Rotate the slider direction slightly so that undercut will get removed but this is costly solution
as far as tool manufacturing is considered.

Case:6 If the component is visible and there is undercut on the base face and you can not
move the location of the feature or there is no possibility of slide movement on the main
component ( some feature is in the path of slide movement) and if the technical feature
extremely important then the solution for this is to add one more small component . But
this is costliest solution as it adds one more component in assembly. One more way to
avoid this problem is try to shift this feature on the nearby component if available and try
the second case to solve the problem.
