ceiling?
A ceiling is an overhead
interior surface that covers
the upper limits of a room.

Merriam-Webster Cambride Dictionary

lining of a room. a room that you see when
you look above you
What is the
purpose of
Ceiling?
The ceiling gains a definition, ” A part of a building which
encloses and is exposed overhead in a room, protected shaft or circulation
space.” It helps us to create an enclosure and separation between spaces.
They provide perfect lighting in the room by controlling diffusion of light.
CEILINGS CAN
DETERMINE THE
LOOK AND FEEL
OF A SPACE

People often perceive the size of a space by what they see below the ceiling, but it’s
the ceiling itself that can be huge factor in how large an area appears. High ceilings feel
more spacious while low ceilings feel more cozy. This makes a difference when you are
talking about a company that wants to impress clients with a large beautiful office setting
(high ceilings) or a doctor who wants to make patients feel comfortable and secure (low
ceilings.)
CEILINGS CAN
IMPACT YOUR
HEALTH

It’s been well-documented that higher ceilings provide better air

circulation and, when paired with large windows, can provide more natural
light. Both prevent spaces from feeling “stuffy” and can benefit the
physical and emotional health of an individual.
CEILINGS CAN
IMPROVE
EMPLOYEE
MORALE

One of the biggest deterrents to happiness in the workplace is

noisy office environments and the inability to have a private
conversation. Much of this can be alleviated by selecting a ceiling with a
high noise reduction coefficient. These ceilings absorb sound more
efficiently.

Tray ceilings are built upward in a cut
out resembling a tray. This ceiling can be 6
inches to one foot or deeper and sometimes a
series of steps are added to dramatic effect.
Cathedral
Ceiling
Cathedral ceilings, also known as
vaulted ceilings are high and has
equally sloping sides that form an
upside-down V, at the highest point
possible.It is attached directly to
the roof trusses and rises all the
way up to the top of the house,
usually soaring to 15 feet or
higher.
Beam
Ceiling
Beam ceilings are gaining
popularity in modern rustic and
contemporary-styled homes, but
it is actually a traditional
style of ceiling in which the
load-bearing beams are exposed
in the inside of the house.
It creates an interesting depth
and contrast to the ceiling.
These beams are usually made of
hardwood.

homes. It’s the standard style typically 8
feet high to fit with standard construction
material sizes. It has a simple flat surface
with accessible height.

Hollow Core
Slab Ceiling
The hollow core slab ceiling is made
from precast prestressed concrete slabs
which have tube-shaped tunnels running
through them.„
These concrete slabs can
also be voided slabs or hollow core
planks. The surface of a hollow-core slab
ceiling can be finished by polishing or
painting the concrete or by spraying it
with a soundproofing material.
Shed Ceiling

The shed has a slope that slants upward

to one side. The rising angle of this type of
ceiling is not as steep like that
of the cathedral ceiling, which means it
provides better insulation and
ventilation. The uneven wall height created by
the rise of the ceiling gives the room a
refreshing look.
False Ceiling

Ceiling. It’s a flat ceiling built below an
existing ceiling. This type is good for
hiding wirings and other mechanical
fixtures from the old ceiling in a stylish
way.It consists of a lightweight, acoustic

words, it is a second layer of roof with
the help of metal or wooden frame.

Conclusion:
It’s easy to say that ceilings are important
because they protect the electrical and plumbing
systems above it or that ceilings are important
because they give us something to look at when
we are bored. However, we know that ceilings are
more important than that. Ceilings play a key
role in how we feel and interact with a
building. It can even affect energy costs.
