Hukum Newton I

Setiap benda akan tetap berada pada

keadaan diam atau bergerak lurus
beraturan kecuali jika benda itu dipaksa
untuk mengubah keadaan tersebut oleh
gaya-gaya yang dikerjakan padanya

Newton's 2nd Law enables us to compare the results of the

same force exerted on objects of different mass.

HUKUM NEWTON III

Newton's 3rd law states that if they arise from

the two masses themselves, they must be
equal in magnitude but opposite in direction so
that no net force arises from purely internal
forces.
Presuming that the blocks are supported and at equilibrium, then the net
force on the system is zero. All the forces occur in Newton's third law pairs.

Coefficients of Friction

Friction is typically characterized by a

coefficient of friction which is the ratio of
the frictional resistance force to the
normal force which presses the surfaces
together.

In this case the normal force is the weight

of the block. Typically there is a significant
difference between the coefficients of
static friction and kinetic friction

Friction Assumptions

In the standard model for friction between

surfaces, there are certain inherent assumptions:

1. The frictional force is independent of area of contact

2. The frictional force is independent of the velocity of motion

3. The frictional force is proportional to the normal force.

Friction and Area of Contact

Part of the standard model of surface friction is the

assumption that the frictional resistance force between
two surfaces is independent of the area of contact.
Centripetal Force
Centripetal Force Calculation

Centripetal force = mass x velocity2 / radius

Centripetal Acceleration

The centripetal acceleration expression is obtained from

analysis of constant speed circular motion by the use of
similar triangles.
From the ratio of the sides of the triangles:

Torque

A torque is an influence which tends to

change the rotational motion of an object.
One way to quantify a torque is

Torque = Force applied x lever arm

The lever arm is defined as the perpendicular

distance from the axis of rotation to the line of
action of the force.
