Plan a Periscope
1. Draw a diagram to show how to
build a periscope:
• All straight lines should be drawn
using a ruler
• Label the angles of the mirrors in
degrees – you should use a ruler
and protractor to get the angles
exactly right.
• Draw the path of a light ray on the
periscope diagram. All the angles
should be measured using a
protractor.
2. Extension: draw two rays of
light coming from the top and
bottom of an object.
• Use it to predict if the image will
be the right way up or upside
down when you look through a
periscope
• Mirrors normally reverse left and
right: will the image in a periscope
be reversed left and right?
