System Technique – overview of SICAM A8000 communication components

In the taken template the

communication protocol IEC60870-5-
101 Unbalanced-slave (firmware
UMPST0) is assigned to the PRE0.
The PRE0 is also assigned to the X2
serial interface of the CP-8022

In the template also in the topology a point-to-point connection is defined for the PRE0.
The Data Flow Direction also indicates that the CP-8022 will act as slave in this connection.
The PRE0 was assigned also to the X2 serial interface of the CP-8022

For the MODBUS RTU Master connection (firmware MODMT2) the station 72 was defined.
In the topology, this station must also be declared with control direction, which indicates that the
A8000 will receive information from this device.

For the IEC 60870-5-104 connection (firmware ET84) the station 1 was defined. It has been defined
as „Controlled“, indicating that the connection will be started by the control center.
In the topology, this station must also be declared with monitor direction, which indicates that the
A8000 will send information to the control center

SIGNAL STRUCTURE (LINKS)

Additional Links required:

SICAM TBII Workshop

3) Open it with double-click

4) Via „drag-and-drop- fill it with the „Process data message“ parameters available in
the Type overview Parameter tab. Then, save:

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating additional links

5) In the Type overview menu open the Signal Type you want to
expand with the new link:

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating additional links

6) And now drag-and-drop the new link into it:

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating additional links

7) Now that the new link is available in the images, you can edit the parameters there:

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating additional links

8) The signal address (CASDU1, CASDU2, IOA1, IOA2, IOA3) and Type (TI) could be taken
from the LNK_ADR. A reference can be done for that by using the reference-formula mode
(drag-and-drop):

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating additional links

We can compile (transform) again, and load it

If correctly transformed, it will be shown with a blue house

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Now, we will create a new signal type:

Aim of the new type is: to receive signals via MODBUS RTU

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 55 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

We will first create a new link for the binary

signals comming via MODBUS RTU.
Since the firmware used for Modbus RTU
master is called MODMT2,
lets call it LNK_MODMT2_BIN

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 56 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Now, via Drag-and-drop, fill the new link

with the parameters found in the
Parameter Tab, under SICAM 1703 + Ax
1703 + SICAM A8000\
Protocol Elements\
ACP1703\
MODMT2\Rec_binary_information

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 57 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

We will now duplicate via copy-and-

paste an existing signal type.
For example, copy the existing signal
type SIPM_BIN_SP and paste it with the
new name MODMT2_BIN_SP

From this new signal type, delete the

link LNK_SIPM_BIN

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 58 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

And now via Drag-and-drop add the new

link LNK_MODMT2_BIN_SP

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 59 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Now insert in your images a new signal

from this signal type.
You can create first a typeless
container(folder) for these signals, and
insert the new signal from the Type
overview via drag-and-drop.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 60 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Now activate the Reference-formula

mode again and set references so the
CASDU and IOA bytes are taken in the
new link from the LNK_ADR.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 61 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Now, leave the reference-formula mode,

and then you can define your new signal
as a new default, so it can be used for
future images.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 62 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

Finally, assign the created signal to be of

the same created default.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 63 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Creating new signal types

We will now fill in the MODBUS link the

connection to the A8000 hardware AND
the MODBUS information.

Let‘s assume that we are receiving from

the Modbus slave station with address
72 the Function Code 3 register 1, and
that there the bit that contains the
information for the configured single
point is the bit 0.

Then, it would be configured as shown.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 64 2019
SICAM TBII Workshop
Hands on - Creating new signal types

Now, please add the link LNK_ProcessMsg to this signal

Workflow:

1 – In Types Overview open the signal type MODMT2_BIN_SP

2 – Add via drag-and-drop the link LNK_MODMT2_BIN to the signal type
3 – Open the Defaults overview ->

4 – Open the default MODMT2_BIN_SP

5 – Activate the Reference-formula mode
6 – Adapt the references between the LNK_ADR and LNK_MODMT2_BIN_SP links
Please note that after doing that, the references of the newly created link in the
existing signal in the process images have not been updated yet. Therefore, the
next step is also required:
7 – Transfer references to all existing signals of the same default.

Intern © Siemens AG 2019 All rights reserved.

Page 65 2019

Assign the parameters of the

LNK_ProcessMsg link for the created
signal, and assign it to Event List and
Alarm List. Then, transform the images.

Diagnostic Sum Signals are grouped signals that indicate errors of different classes:
E.g. Internal, External, Communication, Warning.
