using the item (shunt) 01903 (up to 10).

> FM Radio can use an external antenna (F – type connection) or Bus Audio
line can work as antenna

> The maximum and switching ON volume of each zone can be set from
Control Unit parameters

15
By-me > Audio: general features

> Possibility of making microphone calls (general or selective) . That’s just mono
directional, it is not an intercom!

> “Baby control” function (at a desired threshold there is automatic signal
transmission)

> “Audio monitoring function”: from a zone it is possible to listen what’s happen
in the microphone’s zone.

> Integration with the scenes and events programs of the By-me system (for
instance radio clock alarm function).

16
By-me > Audio: general features

> The Sound System is composed by:

> Control Unit (optional in “stand alone” installations)
> Power supply (check devices power consumption)
> Decoupling unit 01902 to divide audio line from the automation one
> At least one Source (transmitter)
> At least one Amplifier (receiver)
> Controls: By-me pushbutton(s) or touch screen, connected to the By-me
bus terminals on the audio devices or to the automation line (if present)

17
By-me > Audio: Installation possibilities

> Stand alone (without Control Unit):

> Just audio line is present ( not automation)
> If FM turner is used, a touch screen or a WS MUST be installed to
manage radio memories
> Design the audio line and check devices consumption
> Install the audio devices following the next slides
> Use Easytool professional to configure the system and configure the
touch screen(s)
> Keep the configuration file (.db) for future modifications

18
By-me > Audio: Installation possibilities

> Integrated with automation system:

> Control unit MUST be used in the system. An optional touch
screen(s) and WS can be used too
> Design the audio line and check devices consumption
> Install the audio devices following the next slides
> Use the control unit or Easytool to configure the audio groups and
zones. Then configure the touch screen(s) (if present)
> Keep the configuration file (.db) for future modifications

19
By-me > Audio: IMPORTANT installation rules

> Up to 300m distance from a Source to an amplifier

> In the AUDIO LINE (Blu cable) connect ONLY AUDIO devices!!
No By-me automation ones at all!!
> ONLY Pass-through (daisy chain) connection for audio
devices!!! NO STAR / NO LOOP / NO FREE connection possibility!!
The audio shunt 01904 can be used carefully because it reduces the
max cable length and the signal amplitude.
> ONLY By-me cable 01840.B is allowed!!! NO KNX or generic
twisted cable allowed!!
> Pay attention on BUS connections. It MUST be very tight and
without long untwisted cable. UP to 2-3cm of BUS without
second (Blue) insulation and twisting!!!

20
By-me > Audio: devices – structure - rules
> The Audio line transmits high frequency signals and it needs to be ADAPTED.
ONLY at the EXTREMITIES (beginning and end) of the Audio line, or every Audio
branch a jumper has to be plugged – in. Therefore the question is: does the Audio
Bus Wire ends on the device? YES  use the jumper and terminate the
line NO  leave
jumper OPEN

21
By-me > Audio: IMPORTANT installation rules

> A By-me automation device if connected in Audio - line, MUST

be plugged to the dedicated terminal block present in every
Audio device (teminal block called “BUS”)

22
By-me > Audio: topology - design
> 2 installation possibilities:
1) Integrated in an existing By-me automation line (suggested ONLY for small
installations due the high power consumption of Audio devices)

23
By-me > Audio: topology - design
2) Using a dedicated line connected by a Line coupler to the automation one
(Always preferred! The AUDIO devices MUST be connected ONLY in the
BLUE audio line!!!)

24
By-me > Audio: System design

> MAX 300m allowed from source to amplifier. Best solution without any
shunt in between.

25
By-me > Audio: System design

> MAX 200m allowed from source to amplifier with a shunt. It introduces an
attenuation like 100m of wire!!

26
By-me > Audio: System design

> MAX 100m allowed from source to amplifier with 2 shunts. Any shunt
introduces an attenuation like 100m of wire!!

27
By-me > Audio: System design

> MAX 10m allowed from 1 + 1W amplifier and ANY loudspeakers using
1mm2 cable

28
By-me > Audio: System design

> MAX 30m allowed from 10 + 10W amplifier and ANY loudspeakers (>10W)
using 1,5mm2 cable

29
By-me > Audio: power design
> Warning! The absorptions given in the previous table are only for the
audio devices and do not take account of any other automation devices
that may be connected to the By-me branch shunting terminal. If
necessary add it to the total.
> The absorption of the amplifier 01484 1+1 W (if powered directly by the
Bus and not through the auxiliary power supply 20580 and 14580)
reduces its distance from the system power supply, especially if it is
present in a number of points on the same branch.
> Always suggest to use the auxiliary power supply 20580 together
the 01484 to maintain the AUDIO line in the best conditions: low
consumptions and long distance capabilities.

30
By-me > Audio: Devices numbers
Descriptions Numbers Notes
Maximum No. of “audio” devices (inputs, 64 Limit fixed by the input impedance of the
