FLUID DYNAMICS

Dynamic fluid is a fluid (can be liquid, gas) that moves. has a constant speed with time), does not change
in volume, is not thick, is not turbulent (no rotation).
Characteristics of Dynamic Fluid :
• Not compressible, if given pressure, the volume does not change
• No friction (when flowing, fluid friction with walls can be ignored)
• The flow is stationary, each packet of fluid has a certain direction of flow and no turbulence (vortex)
occurs.
• The flow is steady, fluid flow has a constant speed with time

Type of fluid flow

1. Laminer flow
Laminer flow is the ideal flow and occurs in fluid flow at low speed.
2. Turbulent flow
Turbulent flow is characterized by a whirlpool and occurs when the flow rate is
high
Components in Dynamic Fluid

• Debit (Q)
Debit is the amount of fluid volume that flows unity time (seconds). Fluid flow discharge is
written with a formula :

•  Q= or Q=A.v
Information :
Q = Debit ( A = area ()
V = volume () v = velocity ( m/s)
t = time interval (s)
• Continuity Equation

a. Bernoulli’s law is a law based on the conservation of energy volume on fluid

flow. This law states that fluid is steady, ideal and incompressible, the amount
•  of pressure, kinetic energy, and potential energy has the same value along the
flow. If viewed from two places, Bernoulli’s law can be stated by :
=
+ + = + +
+ + = + +

• Torricelli theorem
The water phenomenon that comes out of the leaky tube is called the toricelli
theorem. The kinetic energy of water spraying out of the water tank hole is equal
to its potential energy. That way, the speed of water in the spraying hole is the
same as water that falls freely form the water level limit. So the greater difference
•in  the height of the hole with the water level limit, the faster the water bursts.
Based on the picture above, water speed can be formulated in a water tank hole of
:

• Venturimeter

A device that serves to measure the flow of dynamic fluid flowing in a pipe by relying
on Bernoulli law. Venturimeters are shaped like pipe where the center is narrowed and
the widens again.
• Pitot tube
A tool that serves to measure the speed of dynamic fluid flow by measuring the
difference in flow pressure with its static pressure.
• Sprayers

As for insect repellent spray or perfume, when a small hole is given pressure, air will
flow at high speed over the hole so that the pressure will be lower than the pressure in
the bottle. Thus, the fluid in the bottle will be sucked out and participate in blowing
with the high-speed air flow.

• airplane lift style
The aircraft can air because of the lift force produced by the wings when the
aircraft is moving. As the plane travels, the flow of fluid (air) will pass through the
wing of the aircraft, the flow of air passing through the upper wing passes farther
than the flow of air passing through the lower wing, this speed difference causes a
pressure difference where the pressure on the upper wing will be lower then the
pressure on the lower wing. Therefore, the wing receives pressure from below, the
wing is pushed up (lift force) which also pushes the plane up so that the can air.
by using Bernoulli’s law for aircraft wings at the top and aircraft wings at the bottom where
there is no difference in height so that the potential energy is equally 0 , obtained :
