QUALITIES OF SERVANT LEADERSHIP

1.Puts other ahead of his own

agenda.
2.Possesses the confidence to
serve.
3.Initiates service to others.
4.Is not-position-conscious.
5.Serves out of love.
1. Puts other ahead of his own agenda
- First mark of servanthood. Ability to put others ahead yourself and
personal desire.
2. Possesses the confidence to serve.
- The real heart of servanthood is security. How we treat others is a reflection
of how we think ourselves.
The remarkable thing is that we really love our neighbor as
ourselves, we do unto others as we do unto ourselves. We hate
others when we tolerate ourselves. We forgive others when we
forgive ourselves. It is not love of self but hatred of self which is at
the root of the troubles that afflict our world.
The Law of Empowerment- only secure leaders give power to
others. It is also true that only secure leaders exhibit servanthood.

- Philosopher –poet Eric Hoffler

3. Initiates service to others.
- Serving without being compelled. A concern to do
things for others especially during crisis. Great
leaders see the need, opportunity and serve w/o
expecting in return.
4. Is not-position-conscious.
- Servant Leaders don’t focus on position. The rank should be last
thing on mind.

Ex. Colonel Norman Schwarzkopf –help onother. Being leader

give him sense of obligation to serve.
5. Serves out of love.
- Servanthood is not motivated by manipulation of self
– promotion. It is fueled with love (willingness to
serve).
- Your influence depends on the depth of your concern
for others.
