a new and powerful basis of identity.
• It uses the “full range of modern means of
communication and organization” that is associated
with the economic transformation.
• The proliferation of fundamentalist organizations
that find ways to benefit from globalization.
Religion against Globalization
• Some Muslims view “globalization” as a Trojan horse hiding
Western values like secularism, liberalism or even
communism ready to spread these ideas in their areas to
eventually displace Islam.
• The World Council of Churches criticized economic
globalization’s negative effects.

• The Catholic Church condemned globalization’s “throw-
away” culture that fatally destined to suffocate hope and
increase risks and threats.
• The Lutheran World Federation warned about the result of
globalization such as the splitting forces of the world and
terrorism.
