INTRODUCTION

The scope: The STARRT is an analysis


of work tasks, conducted by team
leaders and involving the employees
through suggestions and voicing
concerns in the identification and
correction of hazards.

It is relevant to all critical activities such


as: working at height, confined spaces,
critical lifts, etc.
The purpose: to define the way that
safety is considered by individuals and
work-teams prior to starting new works.

2. GUIDELINE FOR
STARRT
Employee involvement in
the STARRT processes is
essential, so these must be
ensured:

•Establishing a system to
follow-up

•Requiring employees to
participate in an individual
STARRT review prior to
each task
3. STARRT MEETING PREPARATION

Prior to the STARRT meeting,

STARRT checklist will be


completed by the Supervisor
identifying anticipated hazards for
the tasks.

These hazards, together with any


others issues raised during the
talk, will be discussed with the
employees
4. STARRT ROSTER
Review previous day’s safety effort
and outcome by asking questions e.g.:

-“How did we do yesterday?”

-“Were there any incidents?”

-“Was the correct equipment available


to allow the work to proceed safely?”

-“Did the equipment operate


correctly?”

-“Did the work progress as planned?”

-“What brought about any changes to


the plan?”
5. STARRT MEETING
Briefly overview today’s tasks, focusing on what safety hazards may be
faced.
Discuss in detail, the foreseen hazards and control measures– refer to
STARRT checklist and get employee input and involvement.
