TITLE: VAPING GROUP MEMBER: NIGEL SIOW CHEONG ZHI HAN LIW ZHE CHUEN KAN EEZEN CHENG CHYE WEI TYPE OF VAPE
1. Cig-A-Like Vaping Devices( 1st Generation)
These Cig-A-Likes are the basic cigarette-
looking devices that are easy to find at most convenient
stores. They are typically sold as an introduction to vaping to assist smokers in moving over from cigarettes to vapes. 2. Vape Pens( 2nd Generation) - The 2nd generation vapes introduced vape pens, which are a bit larger than the Cig-A-Likes and are also used as a starter kit for new vapers. They’re a bit more high-tech than the Cig-A-Likes and generally provide an overall better and more satisfying vape experience. 3. Vaping Mods( 3rd Generation) - 3rd generation vapes are known as “Mods,” short for modification. Before these were released, some vapers craved a more powerful vaping experience than the 2nd generation could provide and would modify flashlights into vaping devices. Thus, the need for a more powerful, advanced, and safe vaping device was born. 4. Pod Systems( The Newest Generation) - Finally, the pods mods. Pod mods combine the portability and ease of use e-cigs or vape pens with the power of a mod system. Pods Mods deliver your vapor using a unique pod located in the vape itself, removing the hassle and the mess of an atomizer or tank. There are two types of pod system: Open Pod and Closed Pod. Open Pods are similar to your standard tanks in that they are removed and filled manually with your choice of juice, and then replaced after being filled 4-5 times. Closed Pods are purchased pre-filled with e-liquid and are disposable, similar to your single-use coffee pods. CONTENTS OF VAPE
• E-Liquids is made up of four basic ingredients: water, flavorings, and a
propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin base( or sometimes a mixture of PG and VG) • Nicotine – The addictive ingredient found in e-cigarettes and traditional cigarettes. Nicotine stimulates the central nervous system and raises blood pressure, respiration and heart rate. When nicotine enters the brain, it releases a feeling of pleasure as dopamine levels increase. Makers tend to offer their products in varying ranges of nicotine contents, ranging from none to 36milligrams per milliliter. Nicotine, while not considered a carcinogen, is still addictive and may “prime the brain to become addicted to other substances,” according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. • Flavorings – Over seven thousand flavors exist including cherry, coconut, berry blast, fresh apple, sweet tarts, cinnamon, and even tobacco. It would be impossible to list all of the chemicals that create the flavors here, but one chemical that stands out is diacetyl. Diacetyl is commonly used to create a buttery flavor popcorn. While this chemical is believed to be perfectly safe to ingest, there is mounting evidence that inhaling diacetyl can trigger an incurable disease called Obliterative ( OB ), also known as “Popcorn Lung”. • Propylene Glycol ( PG ) – This is a lab-made liquid that the FDA generally views as safe in food, drugs and cosmetic. It’s also used to make artificial smoke or fog for performances. It can irritate the lung and eyes and may be more harmful for people with chronic lung disease like asthma and emphysema • Glycerin – Odorless and colorless, liquid glycerin has a slightly sweet taste. Like PG, the FDA generally views it as safe. It’s found in many products, including food and drugs, both prescription and over the counter medications. THE EFFECTS OF VAPING STATISTICS OF VAPERS 3 WAYS TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM VAPING 1. Advice People Who Vape On The Negative Effects On Vaping People who vape may be doing it out of peer pressure or to impress others, and may not know the negative effects on vaping, such as high blood pressure, abdominal pain and vomiting. The chemicals in vape, such as nicotine, have adverse long-term effects of health. If they know the harmful effects of vaping, they may try to cut down on their vape usage. 2. Schools Can Hold a Event On The Effects of Vaping The saying prevention is better than cure is true in this case. It is better not to start vaping in the first place, than to try and find a solution later, when the ill effects of vaping have already occurred. Schools can help prevent students from vaping in the future by having presentation on what vaping does to the body and how it can impact them. 3. Making Requests To The Government To Impose Strict Laws On Vaping The government plays a important role in cutting down on vaping. To discourage people from vaping, more restrictive laws could be put in place, such as no-vape zones, increased taxes on vape and fines for those who do not comply. These laws could help discourage people from starting to vape, or even trying. THANK YOU
