in Ecotourism
2019
Tren Internasional
• Prediksi tren turisme th 2019, telah disusun
oleh Eustacia Huen (kontributor Forbes)
Desember 2018, “Travelers in 2019 see a
series of exciting trends—thanks to changing
consumer behavior and an emphasis on
wellness. For those wondering what will be in
store for next year, here are some of the top
predictions shared by industry experts”.
1. Mini Vacation
• Planning a big, extended vacation can be
extremely stressful. This is why “travelers are
ditching weeklong summer vacations in favor of
shorter, more frequent breaks,” said Loes Daniels,
Founder of Flightgiftcard and Hotelgift. The rise of
“serial short breakers” means more business for
local economies, especially when more people opt
for staycations in “more unusual accommodation
options such as yurts, pods and Airstreams.”
• WHAT TO TRY: According to Klook, a world leading
travel activities booking platform with more than800
experts in 16 global offices, there are ways to make a
short break (or stay-cation) more meaningful. Try a
Backstreet Walking Tour of Kowloon’s Mong Kok
district in Hong Kong for an enticing look at the
vibrant street markets and local delicacies, or check
out the bird parks and butterfly gardens in a
Half Day Tour of The Serene Gardens in Kuala Lumpur.

2. Insta-holiday
• Like it or not, travel business is increasingly driven
by a location’s Instagram-ability, according to
Daniels. In a survey conducted by UK company
Schofields, more than 40% of respondents under 33
consider “Instagrammability” the most important
factor in choosing their holiday destination.
Whether it is art-driven experiences such as Art
Basel or beautiful locations that are snapshot-
worthy, 2019 sees more social media-inspired
tourism.
• WHAT TO TRY: Setouchi Art Triennale 2019—a
unique art festival held over a dozen islands in
the Seto Inland Sea featuring more than 150
international artists; a trip to the Kintamani
Jungle Swing in Bali with stunning landscape;
or a Private Photo Shoot Experience in Phuket
 with your own professional photographer.
3. Driven by Wellness
• Wellness tourism is expected to grow more rapidly
in the next few years—with the
Global Wellness Institute projecting it to grow twice
as fast as general tourism and reach $919 billion in
2022 from the $639 billion in 2017. From fitness-
centric resorts and hotels with holistic spas to
natural immersion getaways, these travel
experience are geared to leave you rejuvenated and
equipped with the techniques for a better lifestyle.
• WHAT TO TRY: Go for a wellness getaway
Aloft Miami Aventura, which has everything including
weekly music events, pet programming, partnerships with
Barry's Boot Camp, specialized crafted cocktails, and
elevated pool deck; have an unforgettable trip fishing
above the reef, scuba diving and snorkeling along the reef
at Alaia Belize; or visit The Mandrake in London's Fitzrovia,
which boasts a Spiritual Wellbeing Programme with
regular Gong Baths, special guest sessions from Nordic
Shamanic Fire Ceremonies, Lucid Dreaming Sleepovers
and Arcturus Quantum Heart Activation Healing.
4. B-leisure trips
• Forget business trips. One of the key rising trends in 2019 is
“bleisure” travel, which sees people mixing business with
leisure. According to a recent survey by Avis Car Rental, 87% of
business travelers say that they are likely to mix business and
leisure on the same trip. This is hardly surprising, considering
that 92% of respondents admit to doing some work on
dedicated leisure vacations, while 56% of travelers with
children are likely to include the family on business trips. As a
result, “the line between a business trip and a leisure vacation
is increasingly blurry,” noted Beth Gibson, Experiential Travel
Expert at Avis, with “business travel more often [involving]
high-end amenities in desirable locations.
• WHAT TO TRY: Visit the brand new PuXuan
Hotel and Spa adjacent to the Forbidden City—
centrally located in Beijing’s main commercial
and shopping district; or go to the Dolce
CampoReal Lisboa—a business hotel-slash-
resort that offers 23 event rooms, an 18-hole
golf course, plus a nearby equestrian center.

Trens report: ecotourism 2019
• Thanks to the opening of more flight paths and the
reducing cost of world travel, the globe has never
seemed smaller. Foreign travel is increasing and the
number of long haul holidays and micro-trips booked is
on the rise. At the same time, we are becoming more
aware of the impact our travels have on the
environment and local communities we interact with,
meaning that ecotourism has exploded over the last few
years. We’ve taken a look into the top ecotourism trends
for 2019 - and how you can get on board with them.
Travel that empowers women in developing
countries
• Thanks to initiatives such as the #MeToo movement, the issues
facing women have been brought to the forefront of people’s minds
and the travel industry is no exception. More tourists are seeking
ways in which to uplift and support the local women they encounter
on their trips, finding ways to bring more balance and equilibrium to
women, even when on holiday. This manifests in several ways.
Female owned and run establishments and businesses are seeing an
increase in bookings and visitors to developing countries are finding
ways to reach out to the local women, whether that be through
providing much-needed supplies or through buying souvenirs from
local female traders and artists. Several tour operators, such as lokal
, have trips designed specifically to empower women - take a look at
their offerings.
Social issues will have a big impact on
destinations chosen
• In a survey conducted by Booking.com, it was
discovered that travellers will be more concerned
with the social, political and environmental
issues of destinations, and this will have an
impact on whether or not they choose to visit. It
was found that 58% of people would choose not
to visit a place if doing so would have a negative
impact on its inhabitants and 49% prioritise
social issues when considering a destination.
Volunteering holidays
• According to the survey, interest in experience-led travel is still
on the rise, with 54% of participants keen to volunteer whilst
on their next holiday. Whether this be by giving locals access
to their professional skills (qualified doctors, nurses and
teachers are always needed in developing countries) or their
physical ones (helping to build and provide infrastructure to
communities) it’s a trend that’s on the rise. This increase has
been particularly prominent for Generation Z, who, faced with
steep tuition fees, are opting to gain life experience outside
the classroom. Companies such as Responsible Travel are
dedicated to matching explorers with the most impactful
opportunities around the world.
Activities to counteract environmental
impact of stay
• The last couple of years have brought to life the extent of the
plastic waste crisis. A study carried out in 2017 found that of
the 8.3 billion tonnes produced across the globe, 6.3 billion
tonnes have become waste. Finding ways to counteract this
has become one of the main sustainability issues of the
moment and travellers are keen to help with the cause.
According to the Booking.com survey, 86% of global travellers
would be willing to engage with actives that counteract the
environmental impact of their trip - whether that be helping
with beach cleaning projects or consciously booking more eco-
friendly stays. Companies such as Green Pearls can help you
find the best places to book.
Safaris and nature reserves
• If you’ve yet to go on safari, make 2019 the year
that you do. More lodges and camps are opening
around Africa, making this experience - led holiday
more accessible than ever before. As safaris aim to
observe and preserve the wildlife they encounter,
most lodges work with local initiatives and their
communities to protect the wildlife and ensure that
their impact on it is nothing but positive. Not sure
where to start? Take a look at
the top eco-friendly safaris to book in 2019.
Avoiding overcrowded places
• Aside from the fact that there is little pleasure to be
found in visiting a landmark or monument that’s
crammed with people, travellers are taking more
responsibility for themselves and opting to avoid places
that have suffered due to overcrowding, such as Athens
and Rome and instead heading to lesser known
destinations. Many of the most popular cruise ship
destinations (one of the major contributing factors to
overcrowding) have begun to put in place strict rules to
regulate and reduce the influx of visitors.
Tren di Indonesia
• Liburan selalu jadi sasaran berwisata, namun
sebagian membawa kerusakan lingkungan,
sehingga ekowisata menjadi tren.
• Ada istilah “mendadak Hijau” saat ada
menyuarakan kritik turisme 80 an, yg
menuntut mekanisme kontrol, agar tidak
merusak ekosistem. Sekaligus memastikan apa
yg akan kita wariskan kepada generasi dibawah
kita.
• Kritik memunculkan kesadaran baru, yg sering disebut
ecotourism, ecotravel, sustainable tourism, suatu
kesadaran baru terhadap lingkungan hidup.
• Knp disebut mendadak hijau, sebab 78% org amerika
menganggap mengerti dan sadar lingkungan (riset dr
Travel Industri Association di Amrik).
• Para pelaku mempromosikan bisnis ecotourism nya,
dan para traveler menganggap jika tdk sadar
lingkungan, terlihat tidak keren, kurang smart, kurang
peka isu sosial dst.
Perilaku sadar lingkungan
1. Tdk mengganti handuk saat di hotel, tidak mengganti seprai, saat
di hotel (mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan akibat sabun)
2. Memilih mobil sewaan yg irit
3. Makan tanpa sisa (sesuai porsi)
4. Meminimalkan jejak karbon (apakah perlu ke Amerika u
menikmati steak otentik; apakah perlu ke Brazil menikmati
hutan hijau? Apakah perlu sarapan di negara sendiri,
snack/kencing di negeri tetangga, makan siang/malam di negara
empat musim?). Untuk transportasi, bisakah pakai sepeda?
Atau harus motor, bisakah transportasi massal atau kendaraan
pribadi?
5. Memilih mandi dg shower ketimbang dengan berendam.
Mematikan AC saat keluar kamar.
6. Isi tas traveler: tas plastik? No no, gunakan tas kain
lipat yg dpt dipakai berkali kali
7. Botol minum, brp botol plastik terbuang tiap hari?
Gunakan botol isi ulang.
8. Sabun dan Shampo, sabun batang yg hanya
digunakan sehari akan langsung dibuang, mengapa
tidak menggunakan peralatan mandi sendiri?
9. Selalu membawa sampah kita kembali ke tas, jk
tidak tersedia tempat sampah.
