• MET is a manual medicine treatment
procedure that involves the voluntary
contraction of patient muscle in a precisely
controlled direction at varying levels of
intensity against a distinctly executed
counterforce applied by the operator.
• It is classified as active technique in which
patient contributes the corrective force.
USES OF MET
• Can be used to:
1. Lengthen a shortened, contracted or spastic
muscle.
2. Strengthen physiologically weakened group of
muscle.
3. To reduce localised edema and relieve passive
congestion.
4. Mobilize an articulation with restricted mobility.
