Instructional Strategy

Instructional strategies are tools or

techniques available to educators and
instructional designers for designing and
facilitating learning. (Gagne, Wager, Colas, and Keller, 2005, p. 226)
An instructional strategy is perhaps best
understood as an overall plan governing
instructional content (What will be taught?)
and process (How will it be taught?).
(Rothwell and Kazanas, 2004, p. 221)

Instructional Strategy

Instructional strategy is defined as the

oganization and sequences of learning
activities. (Branch, Robert Maribe (2009). Instructional Design : The
ADDIE Approach. Newyork : Springer. p. 85)

Instructional strategy is used generally to cover the

various aspects of choosing a delivery system,
sequencing and grouping clusters of content,
describing learning components that will be
included in the instruction, specifying how students
will be grouped during instruction, establishing
lesson structures, and selecting media

Examples of Common Delivery
Systems
Traditional model
Large – group lecture
Telecourse
Computer – based instruction
Internet or intranet web – based
instruction
Self – paced programs
Site based internship and
mentoring (Dick, Carey and Carey, 2009. p. 167)

E. Follow – through activities
1. Memory aids for retention
2. Transfer considerations
Notes
 B and C are repeated for each instructional objective or
cluster of objectives.
 A and D are repeated selectively as needed for each
instructional objective or cluster of objectives
