For verbs ending in a consonant + e:
live living Drop the e and add –ing.
write writing (Do not double the consonant: Writting)
For verbs that end in one vowel and one consonant:
sit sitting Double the consonant and add –ing.

Do not double the last consonant before –ing when the verb:

Irregular verbs do not have the –ed ending in the past tense.
Here are some common irregular verbs and their past tense
forms.
