There are 14 new nouns introduced in this module, as well as several quantitative
words, four adjectives, and three words relating to shop materials and tools.
Since this module explains the parts of any printed copy, it may be helpful to
take any type of service literature (Manual, Parts Book) and to identify within it
such things as titles, sentences, words, marks, symbols, etc.
Keep in mind that these words are taught so a technician can find a particular
reference. For example: In a Product Bulletin the technician may be asked to find
the third sentence in the second paragraph.

Fourteen nouns are introduced in this module as follows:
• assembly: The act of connecting together the parts of something (such as a
machine).
sentence
• disassembly: To disconnect the pieces of, take apart (such as an engine).
oil • letter: A single letter of the alphabet (a,b,c, etc.).
• Symbol: A letter, group of letters, or character that is used instead of a word.
• mark: A small area on the surface of something, a symbol or shape on
something that identifies it.
• Formula: A general fact or rule expressed in letters and symbols.
• Sentence: A group of words that expresses a statement, question, command.
• Title: The name given to something (such as a book) to identify or describe it.
• procedure: A series of actions that are done in a certain way or order.
• Section: A part of a book.
• language: The system of words or signs that people use to express thoughts
and feelings to each other.
• Service manual: Book that contains information on the major operating
systems, testing, adjusting, troubleshooting, and disassembly and
