ATTITUDE
A manager told to an applicant during interview “ our company is
hiring attitude to let your skills be known”.
Main Components:
Cognitive – description of or
belief in the way
things are
Affective – emotional or feeling
segment of an
attitude
Behavioral – an intension to
behave in a certain
Does behavior always follow
from attitude?
No!
Cognitive Dissonance –
incompatibility between two or
more attitudes or between
behavior and attitudes.
Any form of inconsistency is
uncomfortable.
Therefore, we attempt to reduce it.
Major Job Attitudes
Job satisfaction – a positive
feeling about a job.
Job involvement- self-worth,
influence their work environment
and autonomy
Organizational commitment –
less likely to engage in work
withdrawal even if they are
dissatisfied -(loyalty).
EMOTIONS AND MOODS
Emotion – are intense
feelings directed at someone
or something.
(anger, envy, fear, frustration,
embarrassment, happiness, hate, hope
etc.)
Felt Emotion –
individual’s actual
emotions
Displayed Emotion –
show and considers
appropriate emotion in a

Surface Acting – hiding

When you look at a target and attempt to
interpret what you see, your interpretation is
