with 83,600 square kilometres
 The United Arab Emirates consists of
seven emirates – Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai,
Fujairah, Ras al-Khaimah, Sharjah, and Umm al-
Quwain. Emirate means State or Province ruled by
an Emir.
 The capital is Abu Dhabi.
 Languages are Arabic ,Persian, English, Hindi, Urdu.
 The Currency is Emirati dirhams (AED)
People/population
 The estimated 2020 population of the UAE is
9.89 million
 It's a multi cultural society
 The main language is Arabic
 People from the United Arab Emirates are
usually called Emarati. A person from Dubai
is called Dabawi (in Arabic) or Dubaian (in
English
Landscape
 The Western Hajar mountain chain rises to
about 1,300 metres (4,265 feet) in some places.
  Dubai has no natural rivers or oases;
however, Dubai does have a natural
inlet, Dubai Creek, which has been dredged to
make it deep enough for large vessels to pass
through.

Culture
 UAE Emiratis are predominantly Sunni
Muslims and all social and political matters are
driven by Sharia (Islamic) law.
 Nomadic people have been living in the UAE
for at least two thousand years
 Camels are an integral part of local tradition
and culture
 The discovery of oil in the UAE in the 1960s
brought the country great wealth
Food
 The Arabic bread Khameer (which is the Arabic
word for yeast) is sprinkled with sesame seeds
and served with cheese or honey . The Emirati
pancake, Chabab, has added spices like
cardamom and saffron. It is served with date
syrup.
 Local coffee comes blended with cardamom
and saffron. Coffee is served in small handle-
less cups called finjans.
 Date palms flourish in the oases.
Governtment
 Politics of the United Arab Emirates takes place in a
framework of a federal, presidential, and a
constitutional monarchy.
 The President is also the Commander-in-Chief of the
UAE Armed Forces. The current President is Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Khalifa became
president on 3 November 2004, following the death
of his father, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
 The Al Maktoum family is the ruling royal
family of Dubai, and one of the six
ruling families of the United Arab Emirates.
History
 The UAE consists of seven emirates and was
founded on 2 December 1971 as a federation.
Six of the seven emirates (Abu Dhabi, Dubai,
Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and
Fujairah) combined on that date. The seventh,
Ras al Khaimah, joined the federation on 10
February 1972

Animals
 The Arabian Oryx 
 Oryx is a medium-sized antelope with a
distinct shoulder bump, long, straight horns,
and a tufted tail. It is the smallest member of
the genus Oryx, native to desert and steppe
areas of the Arabian Peninsula .
