What is RFV???
The right form of verb encompasses most of the grammatical rules
of English language.

The verbs appear differently in a sentence on the basis of


their
subjects (subject-verb agreement),
tenses,
moods,
voices,
different structures,
modals, etc.
Prerequisite to RFV
A learner must know 12 structures of Tense

What is Mood???
• In grammar, mood is used to refer to a verb
category or form which indicates whether the
verb expresses:
• a fact (the indicative mood),
• a command (the imperative mood),
• a question (the interrogative mood),
• a condition (the conditional mood), or
• a wish or possibility (the subjunctive mood).
Rules of RFV
1. Any Present Simple sentence having singular
subject will always have singular verb.
N.B – Singular subject will take the ‘S’ ending
verb.
Exception: ‘I’ and ‘You’
Example: He go/goes to school.

2. Universal truth (wPišÍb mZ¨) and habitual
fact (Af¨vmMZ Kg©) always have Present
Simple Tense.
N.B – Singular subject will take the ‘S’ ending verb.
Example: The earth move/moves round the world.
Example: Mr. Hasan eat/eats supper at 10 pm
daily.

3. When we use do/did/does at the beginning of
Interrogative Sentence, we write the verb
base form.
Example: Did they leave/left the station?
Example: Does Shakira love/loves watching
English movie?
Example: What does she do/does in his/her free
time?

4. A sentence having daily, regularly, every day,
often, always, normally, generally,
occasionally, frequently, naturally, usually,
sometimes will always take Present Simple
Tense.
Example: The girls often participate/participates
in social work.
Example: Maisha sings/sang at home daily.

5. A sentence having now, at the moment, at
present, day by day and rapidly will always
take Present Continuous Tense.
Example: They gossip/are gossiping in the class
now.
Example: The number of literate people is
increasing/are increasing in Bangladesh
rapidly.

6. A sentence having lately, recently, yet, ever,
already and just will always be Present Perfect
Tense.
Example: My father have just landed/has just
landed at airport.
Example: The judge has already
announced/have already announced his/her
verdict.

7. If a sentence ends with since/for + time, it
indicates that the sentence is to be in Present
Perfect Continuous Tense.
Example: Suva has been watching/have been
watching television for 2 hours.
Example: Masum and Farhan have been
trying/has been trying to design a car since 2
years.

8. A sentence containing yesterday, previous,
last, long since, ago, once upon a time is to be
Past Simple Tense.
Example: Our English teacher conducted/took a
live class yesterday on Right Form of Verbs.
Example: My mother leaves/left for Gulshan a
moment ago.

9. A sentence bearing tomorrow, next and
following is to be Future Simple Tense.
Example: Our Principal shall come back/will
come back from England the following week.
Example: All the students will go/shall go to
Saint Martin’s Island as a part of their BGST
class to see the beautiful tourist spot of
Bangladesh next month.

10. A sentence bearing two verbs:
the second verb is to get ing form.
N.B. – present participle or gerund form

Example: Zakia has finished plucking/have


finished plucking the flowers.
Example: We learned speaking/learned speak
English fluently.

11. A sentence having had better, would better,
had rather, would rather, let, need, must, may,
might, can, could, dare, would, should is to get
the base form of the verb.
N.B. – no ‘S’ or ‘es” adding to the main verb
Example: She had better study/studies now.
Example: He would protest/protests such
heinous crime.

12. It is time, It is high time will get the next
sentence in Past Simple Tense.
Example: It is time our school
announced/announces the Final Term result.
Example: It is high time we realize/realized our
mistake and ask/asked forgiveness.

13. The verb after - look forward to, with a view
to, get used to, in regards to, worth, mind,
cannot help, could not help is to be in ing
form.
N.B. – present participle or gerund
Example: Many Bangladeshis migrate to other
countries with a view to secure/securing a
better life.

14. The Verb seen immediate after – by, without,
with, while, for, from, of, before, after is to in ing
form.
N.B. – present participle or gerund
Example: Without run/running fast, you cannot win
the race.
Example: My brother went to the market for
buy/buying groceries.

15. If a subject comes immediate after while, then
the sentence is to be Past Continuous Tense.
The second sentence is to be in Past Simple
Tense.
Example: While Sanjana was walking/walked in
the garden, she saw/was seeing a nice bird.
Example: While we were flying/flew, we were
seeing/saw many tiny men and women on the
ground.

(change) their fate.
2. While President Obama (give), he (stop) by a
gentle man suddenly.
3. We had better (to take) precautious measures to
avoid corona virus.
4. It is high time the world leaders (announce)
lockdown over the entire world.
5. Usually, our class teacher (not miss) any class.
