PET Plastic
What is “PET Plastic”?
PET (also abbreviated PETE) is short for polyethylene terephthalate, the chemical
name for polyester.

PET is a clear, strong, and lightweight plastic that is widely used for packaging foods
and beverages, especially convenience-sized soft drinks, juices and water. Virtually
all single-serving and 2-liter bottles of carbonated soft drinks and water sold in the
U.S. are made from PET.
The PET Plastic is toxic?
 Because of that, there is abundant literature on the topic but we are going to focus on 2
important facts: By products of the process of turning raw materials into plastics can
always be found on the finished product, knowing these materials is essential for their
toxicological analysis. The same thing can be said about additives used for better
processing, increase stability or give the material specific properties. There is some
migration of low molecular weight residues from the plastic to food. The speed of this
transfer depends on the structure and macroscopic nature of the plastic.
Why the recycling is not

We do not want to take away the merit of those people who take the trouble to
recycle their containers, however, while these people avoid buying another container,
companies are creating thousands more, so that individual actions are not enough, it
is everyone's responsibility to create conscience if it is within our reach.
What are the implications of PET in the
environment?
PET by itself has the ability to disintegrate without directly affecting the
environment, but nevertheless, it can reduce the speed of nearby plants to transform
CO2, because while PET is integrated into the environment, it temporarily destroys
the capacity of the surrounding plants to carry out photosynthesis in the right way, a
problem that ends up being very serious. This triggers problems related to global
warming such as:
 Climate change.
 Destruction of Habitats.
 Reduction in drinking water.
 Decrease of oxygen in the air.
Personal Conclution

We can no longer ignore the fact that plastic is entering every home as packaging
material so we should be aware of its effects on our health and how we can dispose of
it in a safe way to avoid those effects. For this reason I have researched the following
facts about polymers, their composition and effects on our health. With this work we
can stop use the PET plastic right now and save our planet and our health.
