STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

 The study was conducted to determine the effect of mobile phone to the academic
performance of senior high school students of CFCST.
Specifically, this will attempt to answer these questions:
1. What are the positive and negative effect of mobile phone to the academic performance of
Senior High School Students in CFCST?
2. What are the effects of mobile phone on learning achievement of SHS Students?
Significance of the Study

 This study will be very significant to the following stakeholders:

Student. Knowing the effect of mobile phone will enable them to make necessary
adjustment for a meaningful and productive learning.
Parent. Knowing the effect of mobile phone will enable them to guide their children into
meaningful and productive learning.
Teachers. Awareness on this matter will enable them to make the necessary adjustments in
their teaching strategies and techniques.
Scope and Delimitation

 This research was conducted at CFCST SHS Department. It is limited only on the
effects of mobile phone to the academic performance of SHS Grade 11 Students of
CFCST.
METHODOLOGY
Research Design

 The researchers, wanted to examine the effect of mobile phone on SHS

students. Due to the nature of the study, the researchers decided to employ a
Descriptive design using survey questionnaires.
Locale of the Study

 This study was conducted at the Senior High School Department of

Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology, Doroluman, Arakan,
Cotabato.
Respondents of the Study

 The respondents of the study was randomly selected Grade 11 Senior

High School students of CFCST. There were five (5) respondents from every
strand.
Research Instrument

The study used an adopted questionnaire as the primary research

instrument to satisfy the desire of the researchers to gather information that
supported this study.
Sampling Procedure

 Random sampling was utilized in taking the samples of student respondents in

this study.
Data Gathering Procedure

 A letter of consent to conduct the study was sought for approval from the
Chairman of the Senior High school. Upon approval of the consent letter, the
researchers personally hand it to the respective Grade 11 advisers where the
respondents was taken from their advisee.
 Questionnaires was distributed to each of the respondents and
automatically retrieved right after they finished filling up the said questions.
Statistical Analysis

 The retrieved instrument was tallied, and treated statistically. All the results was
presented in textual and tabular forms. Mean and frequency was used to determine
the responses of the respondents in each indicator.

 The table above shows the data regarding the positive effect of mobile phone on the
learning achievements of SHS students. It has the grand mean of 3.4 and the descriptive
equivalents of moderately agree which conventionally means that most of the
respondents agree on the positive effect of mobile phone in the learning achievements,
it can be perceived that there are four (4) indicators which are moderately agree, such
as in the statement, I can easily contact the teachers for study purposes” it has the mean
of 3.3.
 Also, there is only one indicator which shows that Senior High Schools Students agree,
and it could be seen in the statements” I can easily contact classmates to get help in
studies” at has the mean of 3.8.
 Furthermore, on overall result, the grand mean 3.4 indicates that respondents agree on
positive effect of mobile phone in learning achievements.

people’s daily life, on the other hand, phones bring positive and negative effects.
People these days never left their phones and somehow consider it as part of their body.
Phone does a good job on making our life more easily, but there are more negative than
positive effects.

negative effects of mobile phone in the learning achievements.
 It can be perceived that there is only one indicator which shows that Senior High School
students agree, it can be seen on the statement” I cannot focus on my lesson when I am
using the mobile phone” with the mean of 3.5.
 Furthermore, the overall result with the grand mean of 3.14 indicates that respondents
agree on the negative effect of mobile phone in learning achievements.
 According to Aaron Smith (1989), seeing teens standing together, but totally ignoring each
other is a common sight these days. According to a survey conducted by the Pew Research
