Presentation by Group 4
What is public speaking?
Public Speaking
- is an important part of life as
it is carried out to accomplish
specific goals such as to inform,to
entertain,or to persuade.
Pillars of Public Speaking
2300 years ago, Aristotle wrote about the art of
speaking in front of public in his book “On Rhetoric”.
He explained that the most important pillars on
which any good and effective presentation or speech
were built are the three (3) things:
• Ethos
• Pathos
• Logos
3 Pillars of Public Speaking
1.) Ethos
- it means the credibility that the
speaker has. Your faith in front of the
audience, your value in their eyes, the
extent of your experience and the
strength of your personality.
3 Pillars of Public Speaking
2.) Pathos
- every speech or presentation
should be in this idea that you are
trying to gain public's feeling for
your class. Write and say words that
try to gain their passion, let them
love your show.
3 Pillars of Public Speaking
3.) Logos
- from the form of the word, it
shows that it has something to do
with logic. In Aristotles view, the
most important column of your
speech or presentation is the logical
sequence.
