What is cloud?

• The term cloud refers to a network or internet

• The cloud is something which is present at remote location
• Cloud provides services over network
INTRODUCTION

• Cloud computing provides us a means by which we can access the

applications as utilities over the internet.
• With cloud computing user can access database resources via from anywhere
for as long as they need without worrying about any maintenance or
management.
Cloud computing architecture
• FRONT END : It consists of interfaces and web applications that are required
to access the cloud computing platforms
• Eg : web browser
• BACK END: backend refers to the cloud itself . It consists of all resources to
provide services . It comprises of data storage , virtualization , services ,
servers.
Work models of cloud computing

• Deployment model
• Service model
Deployment models

Deployment model define the type of access to the cloud , i.e., how the cloud is
located?
There are four types of access
• public cloud
• Private cloud
• Hybrid cloud
• Public cloud: The public cloud allows systems and services to
be easily accessible to the general public
• Eg : gmail
• Private cloud: The private cloud allows systems and services to
be accessible within an organization. It offers security.
• g : research,manfacturing
• Hybrid cloud: The community cloud allows systems and
services to be accessible by group of organizations.
Service models
• Infrastructure as a service (Iaas)
• Platform as a service (Paas)
• Software as a service(Saas)
Infrastructure as a service
IAAS provides access to fundamental resources such as physical machines , virtual machines
E g: NTT communications , go grid
platform as a service
PAAS provides all the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and
delivering web applications
E g : azure , amazon web services
software as a service
SAAS model allows to use software applications as a service to end users
E g : google , Facebook
DISADVANTAGES OF CLOUD COMPUTING

• Network connection dependency

• Loss of control
• Security concern
• Increased latency
Cloud computing to edge computing

• To leverage 5G wireless technology and artificial intelligence to enable faster

responses times , lower latency and to simplify maintenance in computing
• This is where edge computing comes in –which many see as an extension to
cloud ,but which is ,in fact ,different in several basic ways
Difference between edge and cloud computing

• The basic difference between edge computing and cloud computing lies in the
place where the data processing takes place
• At the moment ,the existing Internet of things systems performs all of their
computations in the cloud using data centres.
• Experts believe the true potential of edge computing will become apparent
when 5G networks go mainstream in a year now
Advantages

• Quick
• Future technology enabled
• Localised solution
• Data -efficient
