What is cloud?
• Deployment model
• Service model
Deployment models
Deployment model define the type of access to the cloud , i.e., how the cloud is
located?
There are four types of access
• public cloud
• Private cloud
• Hybrid cloud
• Public cloud: The public cloud allows systems and services to
be easily accessible to the general public
• Eg : gmail
• Private cloud: The private cloud allows systems and services to
be accessible within an organization. It offers security.
• g : research,manfacturing
• Hybrid cloud: The community cloud allows systems and
services to be accessible by group of organizations.
Service models
• Infrastructure as a service (Iaas)
• Platform as a service (Paas)
• Software as a service(Saas)
Infrastructure as a service
IAAS provides access to fundamental resources such as physical machines , virtual machines
E g: NTT communications , go grid
platform as a service
PAAS provides all the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and
delivering web applications
E g : azure , amazon web services
software as a service
SAAS model allows to use software applications as a service to end users
E g : google , Facebook
DISADVANTAGES OF CLOUD COMPUTING
• The basic difference between edge computing and cloud computing lies in the
place where the data processing takes place
• At the moment ,the existing Internet of things systems performs all of their
computations in the cloud using data centres.
• Experts believe the true potential of edge computing will become apparent
when 5G networks go mainstream in a year now
Advantages
• Quick
• Future technology enabled
• Localised solution
• Data -efficient
