CULTURE
• Culture is the systems of knowledge
shared by a relatively large group of
people.
• Culture refers to the cumulative deposit
of knowledge, experience, beliefs,
values, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies,
religion, roles, spatial relations, concepts
of the universe, and material objects and
possessions acquired by a group of
people in the course of generations
through individual and group striving.
• IDEAS, CUSTOMS, ARTS AND SOCIAL
BEHAVIOUR OF A SOCIETY OR PEOPLE

• Kant : an individualist definition of "enlightenment" similar to

immaturity comes not from a lack of understanding, but from
a lack of courage to think independently.
• Humboldt (1795)  "worldview"(Weltanschauung).each ethnic
group has a distinct worldview that is incommensurable with
the worldviews of other groups. 
• Adolf Bastian (1860) developed a universal model of culture:
all human societies share a set of elementary ideas; different
cultures are local modifications of the elementary ideas
