ACTIVITY ONE
ICT, Me and My Community

To fully understand the importance of

ICT, let us first look at our community. Look
for a small business around your community.

Conduct a short interview of the business

owner using the following guide:

Company or Establishment Name:
Address:
Nature of Business:

Guide Questions:
1. What are the different ways for customers
and/or suppliers to contact you?

2. How often do you use a phone or cellular
phone for business? Estimate only.

3. Does your establishment have internet connection?
If yes, what is its
purpose? If no, would you consider having it in the
future? Why or Why not?

4. Does your business have a website? If yes, how
does it help the company?
If no, would you consider having one in the future?
Why or Why not?

5. (If applicable) Would you consider giving free Wi-
Fi access in the future? If you already have it, does it
help boost sales?
Company or Establishment
Name: EDEN STORE

Address: Old Buswang, Kalibo,

Aklan

Nature of Business: Sari-sari Store

Answers of the Interviewee:
1. The way the customers and/or suppliers contact us,
is through a text using mobile phone. But more often,
because it is just only a small business, a sari-sari
store, the customers or suppliers prefer to have a
personal communication.

2. I often use a phone or cellular phone for business
twice or thrice a week to check some supplies and
charges to the company where we get our product to
sell.

3. Our establishment does not have any internet connection. I
would consider having it in the future because it would provide a
lot of help to make our sells easier and flexible. Flexible because
we and the suppliers can create a connection for business matters
in the one of most convenient way of communication.

4. Our business does not have a website. But if I have the
chance, I would consider having one in the future because in a
website you can endorse the products you are selling. It is a very
big help because it would benefit me as well as the customers or
consumers.

5. Not applicable, because giving a free Wi-Fi access is not
necessary.

Questions and Answers:
1. What will be the content of your social
media site?
It will contain brief information or news
updates about HIV/AIDS and on how to
minimize this kind of problem in the society.
This will include ways or medical assistance to
prevent the spreading of virus, especially to
those families that are already affected that
needs the medication.
It will also contain videos and pictures
about how the HIV can affect the people, so
that the netizens will truly understand how
the HIV are very important to be given
attention for us to avoid this kind situation.
I also plan to update this every now and
then, so that the netizens who views the site
will be able to share the information and
comment to this site.
2. Why did you choose that type of social
media?
Millennials nowadays are fond to use
that kind of social media. It would be a
very big help to share the information
and it could be on trend in the
community and to every part of the
world.
3. Why did you choose that type of website?
Rappler started as a Facebook page
named MovePH and later evolved into a
full-blown website along with web base
text news content. It was also among the
first news websites in the Philippines to
extensively use online multimedia
including video, pictures, text and audio.
It is very convenient for news contribution
because it uses social media sites.
ACTIVITY FOUR
1. Why do you think microblogging
platforms have become popular when
regular blogging platforms exists?
2. What is Video Blogging?

3. What do you think of WEB 3.0? Do you

think it will realized someday in the
future?
Questions and Answers :
1. Why do you think microblogging platforms have
become popular when regular blogging platforms
exists?
- A decade ago people had intention and a lot
of time to read but now in the busy world
everyone wanted everything short and sweet. So
microblogging or micro-reading platforms
started to boom because of the requirement
change from the audience. It is short but we
could get the information about the topic.
2. What is Video Blogging?
-A video blog or video log, usually shortened to
vlog, is a form of blog for which the medium is video,
and is a form of web television. Vlog entries often
combine embedded video (or a video link) with
supporting text, images, and other metadata. Video
blogging or vlogging is when you make a video and
post it on the internet with the intention of getting a
response from viewers. In most cases blogs are done
in a series where the blogger will put out one blog per
week, or per month on a particular topic.
3. What do you think of WEB 3.0? Do you think it will
realized someday in the future?
- We can actually presume the Web 3.0 is already
here. We are already experiencing parts of the new
Internet, though it may seem like nothing is happening.
People worldwide are starting to realize the importance
of decentralized and distributed systems, even on the
governmental level. But the thing is - we’re living in
the early stages of the Web 3.0. Every day more and
more Apps appear (decentralized applications)- and it’s
because more and more people are getting interested in
block chain and its advantages. But it cannot be called a
cohesive network yet.
Numerous applications are built on different
block chains; every project creates its own
ecosystem that is locked and independent. It lacks
interoperability, one of the main features of the
Web 3.0. Today, we have such interoperability
frameworks like Essentia, which aims to
interconnect block chains and applications. And
as soon as its network is built, the Web 3.0 will
resemble something more of a new, easy to use,
intuitive and revolutionary Internet. The Web 3.0
will likely change every sphere of our digital lives
even as average internet users or entrepreneurs.
In the future we will be able to completely forget
about hacks and data breaches that can lead to your
personal data compromised, or any loss of
company funds. No ‘single point of failure’ also
means that service disruption will always be
minimal. Data will be stored on distributed nodes
and multiple backups - this is how the future
internet will look like. All the applications will be
interoperable, and easy to access from any device
convenient for you. The applications you use today
will be replaced by other ones, open-sourced,
decentralized and built on the block chain.
ACTIVITY FIVE
Research on one
momentous event in
Philippine history
wherein ICT played huge
role in making it a
success.
Information and
Communications Technology
also known as ICT has come
a long way and became an
influencer in several
momentous events in
Philippine History.
Due to ICT, particularly radio and television,
people were informed of massive protest action on
EDSA, which came to be known as the 1986 People
Power Revolution, where freedom was once won
against a dictator. The second revolution, the EDSA
People Power II, as it came to be known, was a
series of protests held from January 16 to 20, 2001,
against the former president Joseph Estrada who has
then facing plunder charges. The protests eventually
triggered Estrada’s downfall- and paved the way for
Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo, his vice president, to
enter the spotlight in the political scene.
