„Ἐπειδὴ τινες διδασκάλοι τὸν τῆς μουσικῆς Ἐπιστήμης διηγίσαντο περὶ τῶν σχημάτων μοῦ ὅτι ἀπόντος κἀμοῦ Ἀκακίου
Χαλκεοπούλου καὶ Θανόντος διαμένουσι τὰ σχήματα εἰς τοὺς μαθητάς μου. Διότι τὰ γινώσκουσι καὶ ψάλλονται. Ἀποθανόντων
δὲ καὶ τῶν μαθητῶν μου, διαμένουσι τὰ σχήματα ἀκίνητα καὶ ἀνενέργητα. Διότι οὐδείς τῶν διδασκάλων γινώσκει να τα ψάλῃ.
Νῦν δὲ ἐμεταμελήθηκα ἐν τοῖς ὑστέροις μου καὶ ἔτρεψα τὰ σχήματα εἰς τὸ κείμενον. Καὶ τὸ κείμενον ζητεῖ τὸ σχῆμα. Καὶ ὅστις
διδάσκαλος ἀναπτύσσει καὶ βούλεται ψάλλειν τὸ κείμενον, λέγει τὰ πάντα ἀσφαλῶς, «ὥσπερ ψάλλεται καὶ τὸ ἐμὸν
στιχηράριον. καὶ οὕτως διαλαμβάνεται.”

Întrucât oarecare dascăli ai ştiinţei Muzicii povesteau despre formulele mele, că nemaifiind eu, Acachie Halkeopoulos
şi murind, rămân formulele ucenicilor mei, căci le cunosc şi le cântă. Murind însă şi ucenicii mei, formulele mele
rămân nemişcate şi nelucrătoare pentru că nimeni dintre dascăli nu ştie să le cânte. Acum însă, mi-a părut rău pentru
urmaşii mei şi am trecut formulele pe text şi textul cere formula. Şi oricare dascăl vrea să cânte şi să dezvolte textul, le
va zice pe toate în regulă, precum se cântă şi Stihirarul meu; şi astfel să îl primească
