Get Your Pharmacy Back-to-

School Ready
From seasonal vaccinations, lice treatments, and
allergy medications to cold and cough medications,
make sure your pharmacy is ready to advertise and
meet your community’s most important needs for the
school year.
• Many of your patients need to refill their
children’s medications, such as inhalers and
EpiPens, but just haven’t thought of it yet. It’s
the perfect time to remind them to stop by
now, rather than after the school year has
begun
• Luckily, your digital products can do a lot of this
work for you. You can create announcements on
your website and social media. You can even add
a custom ad to your weekly email newsletter.
• Now is the perfect time to plan and create the
promotions cards to advertise your pharmacy as
a “one-stop shop for all of your healthcare
needs.” This helps inform patients that they can
turn to you to get prepared.
• If you want to significantly increase foot traffic
in your pharmacy, promote a “Back-to-School”
sale with a coupon code or special offer, such
as $5 off of a $20 purchase. Remember — your
patients are already out shopping to get
prepared for the school year, so a little
incentive can go a long way.
• For promotions you can use and include in
your marketing strategy
• If you want to take your back-to-school game
up a notch, consider creating back-to-school
care packages. To offer a variety, you can
design packages for different age groups or
various conditions, such as flu season or cold
and cough packages. For a general back-to-
school package, you can bundle Kleenex, an
antihistamine, Band-Aids and a triple
antibiotic ointment
• For a cold and cough package, you can bundle
a cough and cold product, an analgesic,
Kleenex and hand sanitizer. The opportunities
are endless and can really set you apart from
other retailers.
Sell area school’s fan gear
Offer a selection of items in your pharmacy that feature your area school’s mascot to show
your community support.
Selling these items in your pharmacy demonstrates devotion to your community. And it
showcases your pharmacy as a supportive fan of area schools.
Consider going one-step further to get involved in the community and donate 10 percent
of the profits from those items to an area booster club. The donation could help support
the arts, sports, or another extra-circular club.
Fan gear your pharmacy can sell:
