A research report is about a
completed study or formal
investigation. It presents the problem
of the study, the questions that need
to be addressed, the method in
which the data are collected, and the
analysis and interpretation of the
findings.
This type of report may be used for
academic purposes or simply to inform
the readers about new findings on
important issues and topics.
It may be used for dissertations,
theses, conferences, and may even be
presented to influence policy makers.
In general, undergraduate
research papers are of two
kinds: reports and thesis. This
papers differ in terms of their
purposes.
If you are making a report , you only wish
to find the facts of your subject and
present them in a clear, orderly, and
detailed account.
But if you are writing a research paper,
you have to study the facts in order to
draw a conclusion from them; and then,
this conclusion becomes the thesis of the
research.
