What is a personal narrative and what are its forms?

A personal narrative is a nonfiction text narrated by


the 1st person, it generally retells the events of an
important incident.
Examples of personal narratives could be:
1- Autobiography
2- Diary
3- Letter that retells past events
4- Memoir

Language Features

 Past tenses
 1st person
 Some dialogue
 Chronological order
 Includes author’s thoughts and feelings
 Time, place and people involved
 References to sensory perceptions and emotions
 Use vivid details, figurative language and imagery
 Generally informal tone BUT avoid slang.
