TURBAN LEGEND

Excerpt from Leche BY: R. Zamora

Linmark
I. Turban legend was primarily pertains to
the hardship and struggles of the filipino
people outside of our country. In a
specific sense, “a turban legend refers to
a person of Middle Eastern descent who
display a type of “legendary”
comprehension of subject matter”. It is
clearly viewed in literary that our love
and care to our families are more than
anything else in this world, which is a
part of our culture as a Filipino citizen.
We valued the importance of having a family
and giving them what they want, and also
what makes them happy. The highlighted part
of the literary piece is the different balikbayan
boxes that surround the airport. We have this
idea that when you are abroad it is predicted
that when you go back to the Philippines you
have this balikbayan box with you. This
balikbayan box thing in the literary speaks not
just its literal meaning but the figurative
reason and explanation behind it.
Information about the work
The narrator of the novel vividly explains
what the character (Vince) saw on the airport-
the different kinds of balikbayan boxes, and it
seems that the character aren’t aware of what
is it all about. He is partly unaware of the
story behind of each box. Well, in fact, those
boxes possessed different stories, and the one
who carries it are the one who is capable of
knowing the story.
Statement of the topic and purpose
Turban legend has the objective to show
the true story of each balikbayan boxes, it
does not focus on what is contained in the
boxes, but what hardship and pain our
countrymen abroad are experiencing. In
some point, it educates the reader to
appreciate and acknowledge their hard
works just to sustain the needs of their
families here in the Philippines.

Turban Legend entails the hardships

are far away from their families. It
shows the longing of the Filipinos all
around the globe. Just because a

Interpretation and/or evaluation
As you read this literary piece, it
requires you to step back and look
at the bigger picture of what the
piece is pertaining to. It requires a
lot of effort, emotion at the same
time sympathy to fully appreciate
and understand what the author
wants his readers to realize.
Discussion of work’s organization
The way the author provides
information, on how he organizes
the details and creates an illusion
about Turban Legend is thought -
provoking. It involves a deep
thought on what is actually
happening in a real life situation.
Effectiveness
Turban legend is created with lots of
interesting part, starting from the very
beginning until the end. The scenario
was treated as a flowing idea of what
will happen on the next part, and I
guess that is the main purpose of every

supply our minds with curiosity.
