° WHY WE SELECTED THIS PROJECT ?

° Major part of our industrial sector import used

injection molding machines. They need to be
redesigned to fasten and precisely control the
overall process.
° The experience of working on this project
would help us in our professional life.
° Secondly, we did internship in Faraz Industries
pvt. Ltd., they are providing us with a
miniature injection moulding machine without
controller and sensors and all other circuits.
  !

° It is a PLC based.

° We have connected a RS232 communication module to

connect the PLC with the computer to check the status
of the machine.

° HMI is interfaced with the PLC.

° Solenoid valve is used for the direction of air flow

through the pneumatic actuators.

° Proximity sensors are used to detect different positions

of the moving mechanical parts.
0"#

° =y using PLC we with be able to precisely control the

overall moulding machine.

° Injection of material into the mould, ejector movement

and opening/closing of mold by pneumatic.

° Wired status monitoring of the machine status from a

control room via communication module RS232.

° Mold opening/closing, injection forward/backward

movements would be detected by proximity sensors.
0"#

° =y Temperature controller we would be

able to set the barrel temperature as per
material melting point.
° The Machine will be operated in two
modes:
i. Manual
ii. Auto

° The PLC is programmed such
that we can operate our
machine in two modes auto
and manual.
° The proximity sensors,
switches, solenoid valves,
temperature controller, HMI
and communication module
are all connected to the PLC
for decision making and
precise process control.

° We will use the HMI to

set the no. of pieces
required by preset
counter.
° Product count would be
displayed on it.
° We will set the cooling
time through the HMI.
° Proximity switch status
would be displayed on it.
° Output status would be
displayed on it.

Proximity sensors are

used for detecting the
position of the mould
whether its closed or
open and also to
detect the position of
the barrel (injection).

We are using the RS232 communication module

for connecting the PLC to the PC. Machine
status would be monitored by the PC. And upon
halt an indication would be displayed on the PC
screen indicating that the machine has stopped
working due to some problem.

° Solenoid valves (directional

valves) are devices, which in
our case control and direct the
flow of compressed air, when
electrically energized.
° We are using solenoid valves
to operate the pneumatic
actuators responsible for the
movement of injection, ejector
and for pushing plastic
granules from the hopper into
the barrel.
%"

° A relay is used to isolate one

electrical circuit from another.
° We are using relays to allow
the PLC output ciruit to
operate the solenoid
valves(directionl valves)
without damaging the output
of the PLC.
° Although the PLC can provide
the rated current to operate the
solenoid valve, but still we are
using relays so that the output
circuit is less prone to any
kind of damage.

° Easybuilder
This software is used for programming the HMI.

° SWOPC-FXGP/win E

This software will be used for programming PLC.

° OrCAD

i. OrCAD Capture design entry is the most widely used schematic

entry system in electronic design today.
ii. Easily converts schematics into PC= design.

° Our machines status monitoring is done by a

wired communication module connected with
pc. In future it can be done through wireless.
"#,

° We started our work with the servicing of the

mechanical structure. After the servicing was completed
we made a list of hardware components to be used.
° In the next phase we purchased the hardware
components.
° The hardware components have been installed in a box
which would be placed with the mechanical assembly.
° We would resume our work with the connection
designing of the hardware components and then their
wiring.
 %#

As the presentation is been done for the

whole project.

° We are planning for our project designing

of connections and wiring of the hardware
components in the month of Ramadan.
° After that we would be programming the
PLC.
