 A map or a network topology view represents a set of sites, NEs
and connections between symbols.

 1) Log in as an operator having relevant rights
 2) Access to TMN-OSs Management window
 3) Start 1353NM application, selecting Actions  Topology Manager
or double-clic on the icon

 A new map, containing only a “Root” submap, appears.

 A new map, containing only a “Root” submap, appears.


 2) Authorise a free “layout”, selecting Edit  Layout  Network
 3) Disable “Frozen Mode” if necessary :  Frozen Mode

as follow:

 1) Select the menu

 2) Define the following parameters:
 Name : unique and without spaces
 Background : from the list
 Layout : e.g. “Cartesian”
 3) Click OK and the update of the
related window appears:

Creating a submap (1) : by “Child View”
 1) To add a child view, select the menu Edit  Create Child View
 2) Define a Name : unique name
without spaces
 3) Select a symbol
 4) Click Apply , a new symbol appears

 5) Double click on the new symbol, an empty Child view appears

Creating a submap (2) : by “Add Symbol” (1)
 1) To add a child view, select the menu Edit  Add Symbol
 2) Select a Type (no graphical view)
 3) Define a User label : unique name
without spaces
 4) Click Apply , the new symbol appears

 5) Double click on the symbol to attach a Child view and answer OK

 The submap can be customized:
 1) Select the menu
View  View Parameters
 2) Define the following parameters:

 Define a File Name : --- (unique name without spaces)

Creating an NE
 1) Open the related submap
 2) Choose Declarations  Create  NE
 3) Fill in the NE Creation window
 Select the appropriate:
 NE family
 Type of equipment
 Release of equipment
 Fill in the two mandatory fields :
 User label
 Location Name
 4) Click Apply to launch the creation
 The created NE appears on the submap
 5) Close the window or create more NEs
 6) Manage the related addresses (NE &
OS) . See next pages.

 An NSAP address represents globally a unique location in the OSI
environment
 The NSAP address is made of two parts :
 IDP : defining the address structure
 DSP : the address itself

 Two types of equipment:
 Intermediate Systems (IS),
with routing table
ES

Each Alcatel equipment runs as an


Intermediate System (IS) equipment and uses

 Click "OK"

 4) Verify or set the LAPD configurations from the 1320CT
 Select menu Configuration  Comm/Routing  Interfaces

 For each SDH port between
the GNE and any other NE
to reach, make sure the
LAPD interfaces are used
(Yes) and configured :
 “Network” / “User”
 Click “Apply” to confirm
any modification then
”Close"

Populating the map from the OS MIB
 This procedure can be used to add an NE icon to a submap if the NE already
exists in the database
 1) Select the menu Tools  NE Inventory  Global
 2) The list of NEs already created appears

 3) Select the targeted NEs from the list

Populating the map from the OS MIB
 4) Select the menu Inventory  Population

 5) If necessary, change the


population selection
 6) Click Apply then Close

Deleting an NE from a submap
 This action simply deletes the NE from the current submap

 1) In the network topology view, select the NE to be deleted from the submap
 2) Select the menu Edit  Cut
or Edit  Delete
or Edit  Delete from all views

 This action deletes the NE from the OS database

 1) Select a NE in the map


 2) Select the menu Declarations  Delete  Generic

ISA boards and EML-IM concept
 ISA boards are inserted into the
OMSNs shelves. 1353NM
SNMP Q3
 They run an SNMP agent
EMLIM EMLIM
interworking with the 1353NM.

 Each of them will be considered by

the 1353NM as a “Sub NE” while
the related OMSN will be
considered as a “Host NE”.

 Therefore their creation and OMSN


addresses will have to be ISA Equipment

 1) From Equipment view of the Host NE” get or set the IP address of the ISA
board:

 Select the unit


 Choose the menu

Manage the IP address of the GNE
 1) Open the Equipment view of the
GNE
 2) Choose the menu Configuration
 Comm/Routing  Interfaces

 4) Select OSPF as Routing

 The « Point-To-Point » address is
the IP address of the Equipment
Controller board.

 1) Open the Equipment view of the


“Host NE”
 2) Choose the menu Configuration

 The « IP over OSI Tunneling Configuration » will be used by


each « Host NE » reachable through LAPD protocol.
 When a « Host NE » is reachable through LAPD protocol the
« IP over OSI Tunneling Configuration » has to be made for the
involved NEs.

 1) Open the Equipment view of the
“Host NE”
 2) Choose the menu Configuration
 Comm/Routing  Tunneling

 3) Check or set the NSAP Address of
adjacent NE(s)
 4) Make sure OSPF is selected as IP
Routing
 5) In case of modification, click on
Apply.
 7) Fill in New folders if necessary
 8) Click Close

 To be able to start the supervision of the ISA boards,


IP routes have to be created into the 1353NM system.
 The routes must be created between each ISA board IP address
to be supervised from 1353NM and the IP address of the GNE.

Procedure
 Two symbols can be linked by a connection
 This connection is nothing else than a graphical object and therefor, it is
not managed by the 1353NM as an SDH object

 1) Open the submap


 2) Click the connection's source symbol (first NE)
 3) Shift-Click the connection's destination symbol (second NE)
 4) Select the menu
Edit  Add Connection
 5) Select a Type in the list
 6) Define a User Label :
unique name without spaces
 7) Click Apply and Close

Principle
 OSI over IP tunneling is a
technique that consists in the SH NE
insertion (encapsulation) of the OSI
traffic in IP packets. IS-IS IS-IS

 The extremities of the tunnels are


typically a 1353NM server and an
NE.

 The DCN connecting the 1353NM IP Packets


and the NE will carry IP packets. IP network

 The NE and the 1353NM server


need to support the OSI and IP

 1) Open the local map
 2) Select File  Save Map as…
 3) Enter the Name of the
distributed map
 4) Enter any useful comment
 5) Click OK
 6) After update, click Close

Unlocking distributed maps
 A map is locked when it is opened to be modified, but it can always be
unlocked
 1) Select the menu File  Map Management
 2) Select the map in the "Map Tree" list
 3) Click the Unlock button
 4) Click the Close button

Deleting a distributed map
 This operation deletes a map from the list of distributed maps previously
stored in the DNM database
 1) Select the menu File Map Management
 2) Select the map in the "Map Tree" list
 4) Click the Delete button
