Reviewing the workforce plan: Early warning signs
There are a number of indicators that can serve as early warning signs of
workforce development issues:
sudden downturns or upswings in the economy could indicate risk of over or
understaffing
increased staff turnover rates in one service area or across the entire
organisation, as detected through the HR management system
indications of dissatisfaction with key aspects of the organisation, resulting
from a climate survey, for example
the organisation is struggling to recruit new staff
revised plans now mean the organisation is now expanding its services,
products, or the number of its stores/outlets.
