Major Achievments and Future Goals


Formation of the Directorate

Directorate of Prosecution was formed after the


enactment of Prosecution Service rules in the
year 2011 After formally organising the
Prosecution cadre & creating the Posts of Director
Prosecution and Deputy Directors in purview of
the provisions laid in the section 25(A) of Cr.Pc.

Directorate of Prosecution was established as a


full fledged office from 1st June 2016 after the
recruitment of Class –I Posts of 01 Director and
03 Deputy Directors through JPSC.

MAJOR ACHIEVMENTS OF DIRECORATE TILL APRIL
2020:

Speedy Trial:-

Speedy Trial of the identified important cases have been


conducted by the Directorate in Phases where the
remarkable rate of conviction has been achieved by the
Prosecution officers.

Rate of conviction in the cases now stands to be 21%


which shows an exponential growth in conviction rates.
Phase wise achievement of conviction in
Speedy Trial of the cases:-
1st Phase – 67%

2nd Phase- 72%

3rd Phase – For speedy Trial of the third Phase


1000 cases from all the districts have been
identified by CID Whose Speedy Trial is to be
scheduled in upcoming months.
VICTIM COMPENSATION:-
 A Corpus of around Rs.34,55,90,000 Has
been provided to Districts on their demand
for the disbursement of Compensation to
the Victims under Jharkhand Victim
Compensation Act, 2016.

2018-19 - 12,58,90,000
2019-20 - 11,97,75,000
SC/ST CASES/ Report of Conviction
against Current MP/MLA

- Report of conviction and accquital of the


current MPs and MLAs are maintained as
per the advisory of Election Commission.

e-Prosecution Portal Project:-

 For daily monitoring of all the cases in Districts


in trial, e-Prosecution portal was launched by
the directorate after orders of then Chief
Secretary, Jharkhand with the help of NIC.
The project now stands suspended in want of
approval of the Department.
A Total of around 17,000 cases have been
entered in the portal till April 2019.
Recruitment:-
Recruitment against the vacant post of Director-
Prosecution is in final phase where JPSC has
issued the merit list. After the approval of govt.
appointment will be done
Recruitment against 143 Vacant seats have been
initiated by the JPSC which will be shortly
completed by the commission.
Legal Advisors
Roster for the Grade III Posts have been provided
to Govt. for further recruitment process.
Prosecution Manual
The draft of the Prosecution Manual of the
state has been prepared and provided to
Dept for its due approval.
Infrastructure Creation:-
Construction of District Prosecution office
and Sub Divisional Prosecution Office in
District and sub Division was ordered by
the then Chief Secretary is yet to be
errected by the concerned District
Administrations.

1. Prosecution Rules
2. Building of District Prosecution Offices
3. Promotion against the vacant posts of Public
Prosecutors & Adl. Public Prosecutors.
4. Recruitment against the vaccant posts Assistant
Public Prosecutors.
5. Recruitment against the vacant posts of Grade
III in the Directorate
6. Rearrangement of Posting on proportional basis .
