emotion ‘anger’ by using the design element Line. The photo contains many lines that are jagged and zigzag across the photo. There is also a wide range in the type of lines present, as you see thick and bright lines as well as thin and dull lines. SERENITY LINE
This painting of a sunset presents the
viewer with peaceful and calming vibes. The artist uses the design element line in order to create the hills and horizon you see in the painting. The painting contains curved lines that appear to flow across the page, which gives off a sense of calmness and serenity. SHAPE & FORM
This photo of grapes shows the design
element shape and form due to the geometric shape grapes grow as. Not only does this photo contain these geometric grapes, but the grapes are also a positive shape as they are the focus of the photo. SHAPE & FORM BW
This photo of stairs is almost completely
comprised of the design element shape and form. Besides the leaves on the ground, each stair level and brick is a geometric shape as well as a positive shape due to the focus of the photo. TEXTURE
When looking at this photo one can
almost imagine what these leaves would feel like to the touch. This is due to the use of the design element texture. Texture allows one to look at this photo and combine their senses to feel the plant and not just see it. TEXTURE BW
This photo of a staircase incorporates the
design element of texture due to the fact to you imagine what the object of focus would feel like. When looking at this photo one could believe that these stones were smooth given the texture incorporated. COLOR
This photo has no focus, it has no
identifiable features meaning that it a non-realistic painting. The artist used a mixture of high and low intensity colors, with the low intensity in the background and the high intensity in the foreground. Along with the intensity the painting is mostly comprised of cool colors with a touch of warm colors mixed in. LIGHT
This photo uses the design element light
by not only capturing the sun but capturing the vast variety of colors it creates during a sunset/sunrise. These warm colors created by the light give off a feeling of happiness and warmth. LIGHT BW
This photo of light in the forest gives off
a feeling of mystery, as the light is brighter in the distance where the focus is not so clear, leaving the viewer to wonder what is back there of importance, what is the artist trying to convey through the light in the distance. UNITY
These tires are stacked and
photographed in a way that makes this photo fall into the design element category of Unity. The repetition of tires, along with them being stacked the same way allows each tire as an individual to contribute to this photo to make it a whole. VARIETY
This photo represents the design element
of variety since the main object- focus- is flowers, however, they are all different colors and sizes and create a vast arrange of different items to focus on. BALANCE
Within art and photography, Balance, is
seen as being equally distributed on both sides of the pages, along with the visual weight being even. This photo of the twin towers in Malaysia is an example of Balance with the two towers being identical, causing the visual weight to balance out. RHYTHM
This photo embodies the design element
of Rhythm due to the repetition present. Not only does this photo contain repetition, but it also contains the repetition of specific lines and shapes. These lines and shapes blend into one another quite easily, allowing the viewer to smoothly transition their focus within the photo. EMPHASIS
When one looks at this photo, they
immediately notice the green apple, as it is the only object with color in the photo. This is an example of the design element Emphasis, as the photo is purposefully designed this way to make the green apple catch out eye and focus all our attention to it. PROPORTION
This photo represents the design element
Proportion through the almost symmetrical scenery. Proportion refers to how the image relates to itself, when looking at the photo the two sides present a proper or harmonious image. SCALE
The design element scale is known for
comparing objects to the size of a human body, as a human body’s size is a good standard reference. This photo embodies Scale as one can infer how large the waterfall is since there is a human standing directly in front of it.
