MLA

• Remember, you must cite everything!

• There are three ways to do it:

– Direct Quote
– Paraphrase
– Summary

• There are two steps:

– Parenthetical Citations
– Works Cited Page
MLA: Parenthetical Citations
• After your “quote”, paraphrase, or summary
you must cite. Cite everything!!!
• Books:
• “Dogs live in kennels,” (author, page number).
• Articles on Websites:
• “Dogs live in kennels” (author…if you find one)
or
• “Dogs live in kennels,” (first word of title).
MLA: Works Cited
• The last page of the research paper is a Works Cited
Page.

• You need to list every source that you used in

alphabetical order. (first letter of the first word)
– Example: Dale, Katie comes before Nagy, Susan which
comes before Walsh, Kevin.

• Please, please, please remember that the first line is all

the way to the left, and any more lines are indented.
indented
