Got its name in 1842 from James Braid.
 “Hypnosis” from a Greek word meaning “sleep” (1)
Mesmer’s Theory

A mystical force flowing from the hypnotist into


the subject , called animal magnetism.
His theory wasn't accepted at first.
Later on got improved by James Braid. (1)
