Intrusion Alarm
 The intrusion alarm system is a basic circuit
that has the capabilities of alerting you when
a breach to any device or item has been
compromised.
 The intrusion alarm system may be
implemented and used by anyone who
wishes to secure a location, item or entry.
 Practical uses may also be implemented using
this alarm.

Types & Uses
v Type: Micro-switch, Light or darkness detection
v Used to secure all different kinds of entry doors.
 I. Home
 a. Notify when someone has entered
 b. Notify when someone enters a certain section of

 the home. Purpose of escape from intruder.

II. Office

 a. Notify when someone has entered

 b. Notify when someone enters a section of the Office
Types & Uses (con’t)
III . Cabinets
 a. Notify when a cabinet containing dangerous items such as
weapons, knives or chemicals has
 been accessed. (especially when involving children)
IV. Closet or Safe

 a. Notify when a locked closet containing valuable items has

been breached.
V. Refrigerator or freezer Door

 a. Notify when someone has accessed in order to prevent loss

of cool temperature.
VI. To monitor traps or events that involve objects or animal

movements.
 Other practical uses:
 I. Alarm to signal when dusk or dawn has arrived in order to
wake up or sleep.
 II. Alarm when an object has past the light detector using the
absence or presence of light to monitor movement or activity.

Basic Principle
 The principle of this circuit consists of a simple but
effectively light-activated alarm which uses only a
half dozen component. A light falling on the
Parallel LDR (light detection resistor) turns on the
Red LED and triggers a sounding buzzer. Parallel
LDR are used in this application in order to
decrease resistance in order be able to light the
Red LED brighter. The detection of light can be
adjusted by the category of LDR light detector
resistor implemented. The LED will remain on
until the power is off or a switch is used to reset
the circuit which in this design a switch is
implemented to give the ability to enable or
disable alarm. The LDR can be housed in an
opaque tube with a convergent lens so that the
LDR is a more controlled environment.

Basic Principle (Con’t)

 The other half of this circuit is a second

triggering device which is a micro-switch.
The micro-switch acts on the principle of the
LDR except that it is a mechanical switch
which is spring loaded to the open position
but when closed it will enable a green LED
and the buzzard as well. This too can be
enabled as a secondary device to the existing
LDR or can be separate. The possibilities of
this application are limitless.

Problems Encountered
Ø Changed my design concept from being complex to
uncomplicated numerous times due to time
constraints.
Ø Schematic problems getting design to work initially
due to improper resistors in place to allow LEDs
to work simultaneously.
Ø Implementation problems from concept to
physical. LEDs did not work due to forward
voltage and current ratings. Improper initial
schematics due to not having the buzzer
properties and not having Light detector resistor
properties.
