Labour Saving Devices

Labour Saving Devices

 Labor saving devices are things that

reduce the amount of effort
required by people to accomplish a
task.

 Also called deskilling devices.

 In Mr.Pawan Godiawala’swords ”A C-
grade operator can do sewing
operations like a A- Grade
(highly skilled) operator with the
USES

To improve productivity

Improve or maintain quality standards

Reduce training time of operator

Reduce fatigue of operator

Needle Coolers
 Shoots a blast of frigid air onto needles at
temperatures as low as 10°F below zero.

 Produces these low temperatures using in-

plant air supply.

 Ends downtime caused by broken thread,

dye-clogged needle eyes and skipping.

 Increases uninterrupted sewing production

time, when used along with silicone-
treated thread for special high-speed
applications.

 Engineered for use with all models of

machines.

Thread & Ribbon Sensors

 Used on all Automatic

Machines.

 Normally Thread guides are

made of ceramic material.

 A thread break detector for a

thread in a sewing
machine comprising
 a sensor device having a
signal path cross
section for scanning
 .
Tension guide
 Used for stretching elastics and
strip rubber in elasticized items
or for retarding tapes and laces
in order to create shirring or
fullness.

 generally used in conjunction
with some form of folding
attachment (foot or guide).

 Double spring construction for
equalized tension.

 Table type fastens to either top,
front or underside of the
machine table.

Back Tackers

Overlock chain is cut and

held by back tacker at the
end of each seam. When
operator starts the next
seam the chain is sewn
into the stitch eliminating
trimming and the need
for tacking.
Presser foot must be

grooved to guide chain.

Backlatchers

 Ply sensors
Magnet Guides

 Used for distance masurements

 Place this on the bed of your non
computerized sewing machine to
help align your fabric for perfect
seams
 Magnetic Seam Guide. Guide
attaches to the metal throat plate
on your sewing machine to insure
uniform seam width. The guide
adjusts to any width and removes
easily. NOTE: Not suggested for use
Under Bed Thread
Runners
 Removes thread visible on the wrong
side of the fabric at the end of the
operation.

 Terret Pressure Foot

 Teflon Pressure Foot

Thread Cutter
 Fits on most sewing machines
having a slide plate
 Its own spring tension will
hold it in place.

 At completion of sewing,
operator draws thread
under lip of cutter and onto
"V" slot. Thread is cut and
secured under lip by spring
tension, thus preventing
needle from becoming
unthreaded. Easily
sharpened.

 One or two strokes of a stone
gives it a "like new" cutting
edge.

Grip Snip Thread Cutter
 No matter what the operator is
sewing (dresses, collars, pockets,
shirts, shorts, etc.), this device will
catch and cut the thread and hold
it for the next operation.

 Simply attach the presser foot bar
with same screw that holds presser
foot. It will not interfere with
normal sewing; but can be used
when needed.

 Spring holds thread, preventing the
needle from becoming unthreaded.
Sharp blade mounted above spring
cuts thread instantly.

 Eliminates needle rethreading, picking

up scissors to cut thread and
bunching of thread at next
operation
Binders
Hemmers

 Used for hemming straight runs
