 A meeting occurs anytime two or more people get


together (face to face or through
telecommunication) to give and receive or gather
information.
 An act or process of coming together as an
assembly for a common purpose

 Informational meetings seek only to


clarify, to make something clear, and to
give information.

Information like:
á Announcement of the new mission statement
á Retirement planning for those over age 50

 A manager desires to receive input from
her/his staff on an issue: she/he desires to
review all recommendations /opinions
/suggestions before solving the issue
For example
á A meeting is called to discuss all possible options.
á A memo or E-mail message is sent to all staffers
asking for possible options on removing the
problem.

when a Meetings focus on multiple tasks then
a meeting shifts to a different type of
procedure, it needs to be handled in an
appropriate manner.
Úhese shifts need to be handled smoothly, or attendees
will be confused and miss important parts of the
meeting. It is good to have a facilitator who is
prepared to shift from one process to another.
