§ When the book was being considered many was of the opine that
since it does not contain the name of God in it«it should be
exempted from inclusion.

§ To many it is more of an historical book like the book of Judith in

the apocrypha«

§ Yet today we have it«God has allowed it..

§ Esther means secret/hidden

§ Õince God is hidden within the book of Esther«so is the meaning
as the name suggests.

§ Today the question arising among the believers is who is the

greatest?

§ Just as the Disciples had

§ ³And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it

was that should do this thing. And there was also a strife among
them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.´ Lk 22:23-
24
§ At the communion table this is the most important thing on their
minds!

§ Today we can look at it and laugh«but are we doing the same thing
today?

§ We all want to be great«but what are we doing to be called great?

§ Whatever they did they thought that they were great.

§ ³Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least
commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least
in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach 6

§ Esther was destined for greatness«but not without obedience and
service.

§ The church is destined for greatness but not without obedience and
service.

§ Õhe was in preparation for 12 mths in order to be presentable before

the King!

§ Today the Church like Esther is in preparation to meet the King

§ Once saved we have to face the need of the hour

§ ¦ordecai means repentance«.penitence

§ This is the condition of the world«and it cries out to us

§ ¦ordecai when he came to know of the decree tore his clothes and
sat at the gate.

§ Esther tried to console him by giving him some clothes!

§ We try to soothe the suffering soul by tending only to his material

need.
§ ³or what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and
lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his
soul?´ ¦t 16:26

§ ¦ordecai refuses to accept Esther¶s consolation«and then address

the real issue.

§ He reveals the true condition and expresses that she is not safe
because she is in the palace.

§ Today the church is under the impression that it is safe from all that
is going on in this world.
§ Õomehow there is a general lethargy when it comes to preaching the
Gospel.

§ We don¶t seem to be in any urgency«.me included.

§ We place more importance to meeting a need than preaching the

Gospel«

§ Are we pacifying our flesh or our spirit.

§ If the Õpirit then emphasis would be on the soul saving rather then
body pleasing.
§ What ¦ordecai says to Esther has always stirred me

§ ³or if you are completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance
shall arise to the Jews from another place, but you and your father's
house shall be destroyed. And who knows whether you have come
to the kingdom for a time like this?´ Est 4:14

§ We got saved because some needs to be saved through us.

§ And if I am wholly silent God will deliver them through someone

else.

§ And I will perish«

§ ³And now also, the axe is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore
every tree which does not bring forth good fruit is cut down and
cast into the fire.´ ¦at 3:10
§ ³Woe to them! or they went the way of Cain, and gave themselves
up to the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying
of Korah. these are sunken rocks in your love feasts, feasting
together with you; feeding themselves without fear; waterless
clouds being carried about by winds; fruitless autumn trees, having
died twice, having been plucked up by the roots; wild waves of the
sea foaming up their shames; wandering stars for whom blackness
of darkness has been kept forever« these are murmurers,
complainers, leading lives according to their lusts. And their mouth

beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith, praying in
the Holy Õpirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, eagerly
