Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be made salty again? It is from that point forward good for nothing but to be thrown out, and to be trampled underfoot by men.

Matthew 5:14-16
You are the light of the world. A city set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
