Is established by an individuals position in an organization; conveys the ability to coerce or reward, from formal authority, or from control of information.

Power that is based on fear

Power that is based on the ability to distribute rewards that others see as valuable.

Power that a person receives as a result of his/her position in the hierarchy.

It is the ability to make things happen in the way an individual wants, either by self or by the subordinates. The essence of power is control over the behavior of others.

Power based on specific skills or knowledge.

Power based on admiration of another.
