Install Oracle Database The server on which PowerCenter Services are installed should be able to access the oracle database through a client connection Create a new database User account to hold Domain configuration metadata and repository. The Database user account should have the following privileges ::Connect (Role privileges) Resource (Role privileges) Select Catalog Role (Role privileges) Create Any view (System privileges)
The Database user account should be assigned a tablespace of minimum 50MB size

Specify Hostname and port number for the database. Hostname can be determined as follows :Start>Run>cmd> Type hostname Port number is 1521 (Default port for Oracle database) Specify the Database User account ,password and SID

Specify the following: 1. Domain name :convention is domain_name 2. Hostname :Hostname of the machine where PowerCenter is being installed 3. Node name:convention is node01_name 4. Domain port no:Dont change the value 5. Domain user name:admin 6. Domain password:admin

Select New PowerCenter repository Enter a name for the repository Specify Database Type as Oracle Specify Database User name and password Specify Connect String for the Database Click on Test Connection

If the Operating System is Windows XP, the following Compatibility warning may appear
Installation Status
Follow the steps below for opening services on the server machine:Go to Start menu>Run>Type services.msc
After successful installation a service named Informatica Services 8.1.0 will get created.
If the repository service is not running , check and edit the repository database properties if required

Use the username just created to access the other client tools. Use Administrator user for administering the repository
